15 Dec 2024 Bear with me. Very disappointing experience. First, the pluses - Great house / rooms - Superb location. Then a list of things that are easily fixed, but clearly reflect how this property is managed, ie as an after thought - The host never contacted me before I arrived. Not until I reached out… - …about one hour before getting to the property. I suddenly realized that the host never contacted me, and was concerned when I saw that the address, once entered into Apple map, returned ‘Permanently Closed’ - Once I got there, a lady welcome me, but seemed surprised to see me. It’s unusual in this business not to make feel guests welcome or at least expected, that’s the basics. - She seemed confused about my name, had nothing on reservation, and called the owner / host, who spoke to me over the phone in English, gave me the wrong room over the phone, that the lady corrected with him afterwards over the phone. - I then confirmed time for the breakfast - I was unpleasantly surprised to see that the price indicated on Booking was wrong, because now I was being charged IVA (VAT). All other hotels so far have been able to get me out of IvA by paying in USA. Here, it does not matter, you pay in USD and are still charged IvA. - I asked for a copy of the invoice, figuring out I would try to get it back at the airport. Unnecessary aggravation and false representation. - I left my ema address and was told it would be sent to me. I have never received it. - When I was getting ready to ease into my evening, the host came knocking on my door, twice, to reconfirm breakfast time – can’t you talk to your colleague ? It’s not like you have 100 guests. I do not appreciate knocks on my door in the night, and it was around 845pm - In the morning, I figured I would arrive early to start my morning with a coffee on the balcony – usually in hotels or B&Bs that’s readily available. - To my surprise the four tables were all dirty with the previous service, and all the leftovers were as they were left. No table to sit at. No cup of coffee. No coffee. Not even water. - At 815 I start to figure out this is not going to be a good experience, as I need my breakfast at 830 as I have driving today and a lot of destinations to get to. At 820 I figure the owner died, or is still asleep, and this move to self sufficient mode – I go into the kitchen, clean a cup, boil some tap water, find some Nescafé, find a banana lying around. - 10mn later I back in my room to grab my stuff and leave - As I leave the house, at 835, the owner comes back from wherever he had been, parks his car, and I inform him that I was not planning to align my agenda to his good will and graces, and as we agreed 830 and he's only showing up to an empty kitchen and four tables covered in trash, I’ll pass on breakfast. I’ve been in hospitality all my life, and while any of those issues in isolation would have been a non issue, I would politely advise the gentleman pretending to run this B&B to stick to his d
