First for the positives, and there are many. The cabin is wonderful, with a very lovely view. We were in #3. The design and thought that went into construction are truly impressive. Waking up to that ceiling and view made it worthwhile, alone, to stay, and we were there for four nights. We explained beforehand that we wanted to prepare meals and George was kind enough to buy a new electric frypan and hot plate. There was already a small refrigerator and microwave. Everything was functional. We had hot water and the shower was good. The mattress was exceptionally firm/ hard and we managed with it. Too soft is worse for us, but others would have complained. One negative may be specific for us. We like to stay at a lodge with onsite staff; it does not have to be big, but we do like someone to be there for questions and minor issues. George was responsive via WhatsApp, but Jairo is busy at the restaurant and understandably has little time for the guests at cabins. Therefore, this felt more like an airbnb stay, which is fine for what it is. Minor issues are the linens. The pillows are old and lumpy; this is obviously easy to fix. The front door was very difficult to open, but we figured it out....with patience. The metal drain plate in the shower is bent with a sharp edge; someone could easily cut their foot on it. Overall, this was a good choice for us and it would be for anyone coming to the area for birding. You would have to understand wat San Vito is and be fine with that, as we were. It's delightfully cool up there, and as twisty as the roads are, they are all paved.
