Hotel Splendid Palace

Reviews are a bit like Marmite, what some people love others hate. So I will not talk about personal tastes. We as a family had a wonderful stay, and everyone said they want to come back next year. RECEPTION, smiling, helpful and spoke English. ROOMS, clean, comfortable, AC kept the room cool, FREE WIFI sometimes cut out in room but was fine elsewhere. BATHROOM, small but never caused a problem. HOUSEKEEPING, very friendly did a great job. BUFFET BREAKFAST, great choices of hot and cold food. BUFFET DINNER, great choices, salad bar (antipasti) 3 types pasta, 1 roast (carvery) 2 other meat dishes and veg. Good dessert choices but be quick as they run out towards end of service. WAITING STAFF, friendly, spoke English but sometimes a bit over efficient in trying to clear your plates away. POOLSIDE, never a problem getting a sunbed, a few put their towels down to reserve but they were in the minority. Used the Indoor pool, as it was generally empty. LOCATION, perfect to stroll into town in a matter of minutes, downhill to Limone, uphill back to hotel a good way to walk off the calories.

Wonderful location, few minutes walking distance from town. Rooms superb, food great and staff/service wonderful. Will definitely come back. Parking a bit limited, but if you can’t manage on your own, reception will help. Other than that there’s really nothing to fault. Book there immediately, look no further.

We stayed in splendid palace for a week and first of all the positives -all restaurant staff, the house cleaning staff and the bar staff we met were very friendly, enthusiastic and were superb in their roles and were eager to help and communicate with us .The rooms were cleaned every day, the food in the restaurant was good and plentiful and the bar service was excellent. The outdoor pool and smaller outdoor pool were also excellent. The rooms were suitable for our needs and with a lovely view. We could not find issue with the hotel location, and above-mentioned staff. Why then the poor rating, well the reason is - The reception staff are seriously lacking in basic manners, not rude but the core skills required to aid guests with simple queries are absent. Language is stated as an issue but English ,German, French guests are treated alike so I think its just plain lack of interest. Management please take note these people are ruining your guests visit from start to end. It is the other staff and the location that keeps people coming. The indoor pool is drab and dull and unattended, and glasses and dirty towels are left on occasion for day or two. The hotel is not a family friendly hotel , I can think of one staff member from the bar who actually made an attempt as engaging with our children and it makes their day. I have visited here as a single person, as newly married and now with my own family. Each time before was great this time was just average, which is a pity when the location is so good, and the majority of staff are doing a good job. We asked before we arrived for a late checkout, when we arrived and on the last day and they extended check out from 10 to 11am, We could store our bags in a side room to 3pm, however what we really wanted was to pay extra for a room and that was never offered. What hotel does not offer such a service. If you coming with a young family I suggest somewhere else that is dedicated to family. At the end of your stay you will get a free jar of marmalade and no goodbye, not even a "was your staff enjoyable?" from reception , the face of the hotel splendid.?

I seen a few mixed reviews before I went to Hotel Splendid Palace but I can assure you this hotel was amazing, yes the decor is a bit old fashioned but to be honest, your not there to sit in your room. The rooms were spotless, hats of to the maids who cleaned our room, you have a small fridge which is adequate, we fitted 2 bottles of wine, water, chocolate and cheeses in ours. We were half board which is not for me, can't fault the food by I like to eat out, which we did on 2 occasions. Breakfast was very nice, your usually hotel breakfast. Dinner usually had a choice of 3 pasta dishes, a roast dish and maybe 1 or 2 other meat or veg dishes. I loved the selection of puddings, great choices. The staff in the restaurant were so helpful, my husband and I preferred to eat out on the terrace as it was alot quieter than inside, it was not always set up but they did not hesitate to set it up for us. After dinner we usually went up to thr terrace for a drink and again the bar staff were fab, special mention to Simone he always had a laugh with you, always remembered what you drank and your room number. Pool area was quite quiet, we preferred the pool just down the lane on your left, not as busy and stunning views. So lastly if your thinking of booking, go for it, if you ask for a lake room you will not get a better view I don't think in Limone. Don't ask for a pool room as they are level with the pool with no privacy and you don't get the view of the lake.

Beautiful hotel with a perfect location and views! In addition, I had no problem getting gluten-free food at the hotel as a celiac, both for breakfast and dinner. Well informed staff that made sure I didn’t take anything with gluten, and numbers on all dishes indicating if they contain specific allergens.

My wife and I stayed at the Splendid Palace in June this year and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The staff are amazing and couldn't do enough to help. A warm welcome from Simone and Michaela at the bar along with Andrea to the helpful staff in the restaurant including Antonio, Anna and everyone else. The rooms were very clean and yes the shower (as a few people have mentioned) is small - imagine yourself standing akin to the the Statue of Liberty whilst lathering up, but everything else is superb. The food was excellent. We selected half-board and the variety was great, quality good and portions plentiful. Limone sul garda itself is a fabulous place, so beautiful with plenty to do and easy access to other areas around the lake with the regular ferries. We enjoyed it so much, we have already booked our return at the hotel for next year.
