Porto Greco Village Beach Hotel

We arrived at 2am Tuesday morning and the receptionist was very welcoming. We were taken up to our room and straight away we were confused and dissatisfied. This room was NOTHING like the pictures, in fact after checking the website we couldn’t even find this room that we were given. The room was dusty, the bathroom was outdated and not clean, the size of the shower head itself was just silly, and the shower gel in the dispenser was watered down. In the room itself, we were given a thin bed sheet and a mattress which was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. The plug socket on the left hand side of the bed was hanging out of the wall and the AC unit had not been cleaned. It seemed as though this room had not been inspected/cleaned prior to us moving into it. We spoke with a gentleman at the reception about our room and how it was not like the photos on the website, and he said “that should be a very nice room, I have never seen it because I have only worked here 3 months but I’m sure it’s lovely”, he proceeded and said come back in the morning and you can speak with the reservation lady. Speaking with the reservation lady the next morning she told us “the pictures you are seeing are from the family rooms” this was a flat out lie, straight away we went directly to the website and choose our exact room but we was constantly made to feel like our points were not valid. We asked if we can see another room that we could move to that were inline with the expectations we had. The reservation lady brought us to a room which was smaller and what looked like our room we were already staying in (Pretty much a downgrade), so we refused this room. If we had seen first hand these rooms and this hotel before coming we 100% would not have booked this package holiday.This was mine and my parents first holiday together in 3 years. This was not 4 star… honestly it’s pushing 2 and half stars. Hotel grounds After noticing that no one actually cared about our complaints we tried to enjoy the hotel for what it was. This was a mistake and looking back I wish we flew home the night we arrived. There were 5 pools in this hotel, every single one was FREEZING. Even one of the bar staff would joke as to how cold the pools were. The upkeep of these pools is next to nothing, all round the edges was broken drains and dirt. Trying to find beds to lay on was extremely difficult because other customers would leave all their belongings on them for hours at a time and staff did not enforce the rules around reserving sun loungers. Furthermore the sun loungers were so dirty, the hygiene levels in this hotel made us so uncomfortable. We would constantly be walking around the hotel looking for somewhere to sit and relax. Luckily next to the hotel there is another pool that’s included and this area is less busy (pool/loungers still dirty and cold) but it was our only part we had an ok time. The hotel and all staff were fantastic. They couldn't do enough to ensure our honeymoon was one to remember. From Swan towels with rose petals on our bed to the amazing food that they serve in the dining area. Beautiful clean rooms and pools with lovely music playing and terrace areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful views. Pool bars are superb and the staff that worked their made each day extra special. The room we had was nice and spacious. We had enough closet space and desk space where we could put our stuff. The bathroom was clean and everything looked good. The bed was a bit hard but it was okay for a week. The location is perfect because its close to the beach and the shops and the pools look great. We had a nice stay! Would recommend!
