As our room was cancelled for false reasons (non-payment of the room in advance in this case), this review only reflects the interaction we had with the receptionist and the hotel's customer service. We had booked a room in this establishment more than 2 months in advance. At the time of booking, there was no mention of the need to pay for the stay prior to arrival. We quickly received a reminder and paid the amount due. One day before our arrival, we received an email telling us that our reservation had been cancelled because we had not paid (!) and that other people were paying more for the room (!!). We immediately called the hotel and were told that a room would be found in an adjacent hotel. When we got there, we were extremely poorly received by the person at the front desk, who was annoying, aggressive and not listening. We were taken to the hotel "Maison Blanche", a hotel clearly below the standards of the Federal Cross and in which we would never have stayed of our own free will given the comments found on the internet. We then contacted the hotel's customer service, who explained the hotel's "Policy" regarding advance payment of stays and did not acknowledge any shortcomings on their part. With this experience, the Hotel de la Croix Fédérale is clearly not a place I would recommend. The risk of sleeping in a dingy hotel while paying the price of a "Boutique Hotel" is clearly not worth it.
