Auberge des Salles

We loved our three night stay. Very clean and comfortable. The view from the terrace is even better than the photographs and was quite simply a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a meal or drink. We enjoyed our meals and found the menu varied and feel it would suit most tastes and was good value and doesn't deserve some of the negative reviews but that is our opinion. There is a board outside the hotel showing the menu. The breakfast is a fairly standard help yourself buffet but perfectly good for the price paid and you can take your breakfast out to the terrace. The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the area and enjoyed hiring a pedalo in the gorge and seeing lavender in bloom up on the plateau.

I went there for two nights to celebrate my birthday. The hotel is in a great location. The terrace has a superb view over the lake and the restaurants and shops in the village are all within a few minutes walk. It is well worth paying the extra to have a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. We ate at the hotel both nights, since we wanted to enjoy the terrace. The staff are all very friendly. It is well worth reserving a table, since you get one with a better view. The menu wasn't really to my taste, since there was no fish offered and few heathy options. I ate a steak tartare on the first night and an entrecote on the second. Although not my normal choice of food the execution was good and the steak of good quality. The food and drink are all at very reasonable prices. There are lots of water borne activities near by. We took a pedalo out and had a picnic and a swim on a nearby island. Great fun. Minor issues. Why not have a hook to hold up the shower head? Easy to fit and irritating when it isn't there.

The Grand Canyon in the USA may be famous, France has an almost as famous canyon called Gorges du Verdon. If you want to sleep with a stunning view of the Lac St. Croix in the Gorges du Verdon, book a room with a view in Auberge des Salles. The new owners are very friendly, the rooms are not very expensive (€ 109 for our room). The restaurant is OK for an evening meal (we saw several guest ordering a big hamburger in this restaurant).

All the staff were friendly. The views from the terrace outside overlooking the lake down below are wonderful. The room was fairly basic but comfortable. There wasn't a kettle but the staff at the bar provided hot water for us to make tea which was nice. Food in the restaurant and breakfast next day was good. The restaurants in the area were fully booked so if wanting to eat elsewhere it's advisable to book well in advance. A 10 minute drive from places that rent boats/kayaks to explore Gorge Du Verdon.

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting the area. Clean, fairly basic hotel but great location and views. Helpful, friendly staff. Good parking and easy 2 min walk into village. Access to waters edge is a quick 1 min drive as walking is a bit awkward. Breakfast had a good continental choice albeit the birds on the veranda were a right nuisance pinching food etc. Room was clean, quite small but a comfy bed with Great Lake views. Highly recommend for a short break. Shame there was no restaurant open for dinner but they recommended a good one in the village.

Great place to stay, really friendly staff and the whole environment is excellent. I have seen some criticize the rooms but it's a 2 star auberge! Bed was very comfy and everywhere is so clean, perfect in my book. Outside terrace is huge and welcoming, bar service is swift. We dodnt eat here so cant comment on the food, but we saw looked good
