This is the eighth time we have stayed at this site with field trip groups, and we hope to be back next year. It has everything we need, at a reasonable price. It used to be part of the VVF chain, and from this year is being run independently - the couple in charge gave us a very warm welcome, and are making great improvements, modernising the chalets, planting flower beds and wild-flower meadows. The site is green, tranquil and spacious, surrounded by mountains - it is a beautiful location. There's lots of space for kids of all ages to play, and lots of picnic tables. A very welcome addition this year is the bar, where you can buy a cold drink or ice cream, and sit inside or out to enjoy it. Each chalet is well equipped with everything needed for cooking your own meals. It is only 5 minutes walk to the centre of the village of Les Cabannes, where there is an excellent restaurant with a farm shop, a cafe-bar, two pizzerias, two small but well-stocked shops (both have an excellent selection of local cheeses and other local products), a bakery producing delicious bread and pastries, a pharmacy and a post office with a cash machine. This is an excellent place for a short break, a family holiday, or a ski trip in winter. There is so much to explore within a short distance - mountains, lakes, caves, museums, mediaeval towns and villages, castles, rivers....

The well-equipped gites are in a good location for mountain walks, visits to the Chateau de Monsegur, Grotte de Niaux (reserve to see the cave paintings), and wandering around the pleasant spa town of Ax-les-Thermes, There is much more to explore in the region. The Gites managers are very helpful and charge reasonable rates.

Des gîtes simples (un peu rustique) mais très agréable. Une belle vue sur les montagne dans un cadre reposant. Confortables, bien chauffés et équipés, ces logements sont parfaits pour se sentir en vacances. J'ai apprécié l'accueil et le petit déjeuner. L'endroit est très agréable, nous reviendrons.
