Fox Den Bed & Breakfast

Wow…my partner and I were amazed to see the positive great reviews for this place ...we did not have the same experience. We were greeted by the hosts and shown our room downstairs. Normally, I’ve always been asked if I needed help with my bag but not at this place…the host watched me gingerly make it down the slippery stairs and basically, almost let the door hit me as he went through…not a good sign. I felt like I was staying at grandma’s basement - the hosts lived upstairs and he was very detailed about telling us the rules and what we couldn’t do …we laughed it off…maybe he was having a bad day. Around 10-11:30 pm, our hosts decided to vacuum and run across their living space like a herd of elephants. Usually, at the many B&Bs that I’ve stayed at have “quiet” hours but again, this doesn’t apply to our hosts. At 5:45 am, we were then woken up by the same “herd” consistently for about an hour. At that point, we just got up. If would’ve been nice to have coffee but since the “rules” were to wait for coffee until 7 am, we were out of luck. During the reciting of the rules, we were told that breakfast would be at 9:00 sharp and to please tell them ahead of time if we would be needing breakfast the next morning. This morning, breakfast came at 9:45 with no apology or explanation. When we told him about the noise and how hard it was to sleep, we just got a shrug. NO apology, no explanation, NOTHING! We told him that we would not be staying the second night and how we weren’t pleased at all. Again, we got the familiar shrug…he really didn’t care. My partner and I were scratching our heads to figure out why this place got so many good reviews and we got such an opposite experience. And then, we found this property was for sale. The owners have basically given up and basically don’t care which I think is a sad way to end a business. But as Taylor Swift says, “trash takes itself out.”… We paid $600 for this experience…they made money off of us but as we all know, karma follows karma. If you would like a story to tell your friends about the worst place you stayed at, please stay here…If you want a more relaxing visit, I’m sure there are many other places that will make your stay in Leavenworth more enjoyable.
