Very comfortable rooms with quirky ceilings (perhaps not for super tall people but we were fine), great shower, good breakfast and excellent evening meal although that was only available on one night. The house speciality -steak on flatbread with haggis - is highly recommended.

Fantastic place to stay when exploring the Borders. Jason was a great host and looked after us superbly. Room was a good size and the restaurant food was outstanding. Excellent service and value for money. Recommended - would happily stay at the Douglas again.

Great food as usual, delicious haddock & prawns off the specials board with caper, lemon & butter sauce, prawns potatoes & veg, pork gyros with home made flatbreads, & superb salad, haggis & mushrooms with peppercorn sauce & home made chicken nuggets, salad & home made chips.

Supper out end of week treat, the food was excellent again last nights meal was seabass and haddock with vegetables it what can be described as a tour de force of excellent cooking one of the best meals I’ve eaten out ! Delicious! And pudding was a Devine raspberry Eaton mess 😇

We stayed for three nights as my husband was doing the Dirty Reiver event in Kielder Forest. The room was really comfortable and the owners were so welcoming and friendly. We ate in the hotel for the three nights as the food was delicious and a very good menu. Would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful one night spent here. Room was clean with lovely fluffy white towels and comfy bed. The food was amazing and we spent the night in the bar with the locals who were very friendly and chatted away to us while they were playing pool. I would have no hesitation in returning if I am in the area even it is just for food.

We arrived after a long drive and thought let’s try here for food. Lovely building looks cosy. Well clearly that was a mistake. We came in to two staff just standing around to then witness a member of staff look up our pregnant friend up and down. Then whisper and say all our tables are booked. Tables were visible but to later find out there is a restaurant down stairs? That’s rather disgusting way to handle yourself as a business. I will happily be telling folk if they do visit avoid here. Clearly it your face does not fit your not welcome. You should be ashamed!

Enjoyed a delicious meal at The Douglas Hotel with friends and the food was excellent. The Venison was so tender and full of flavour. Veg cooked to perfection. The restaurant has had a fresh makeover and looks lovely. Service was very good. Definitely recommend a visit for great local food and beer, relaxed ambience and excellent service.

Great staff, fantastic food and all with smiles on faces - thank you - Typical pub atmospherea and staff were great. We had fish and chips and its the best I have had for many years. It is dog friendly as well
