We stayed in the 1st floor Jenny suite. The staff are welcoming & work to give guests a positive experience. According to staff it’s the oldest building in Lake Placid, so you must expect & appreciate some quirks of old buildings. Pros: gourmet food, beautiful big porch, good bed, nice staff—We asked for coffee at 7am & it was brought to our room, before the normal breakfast time & boy did we appreciate that! Cons: the bathroom door doesn’t shut at all, it’s about 1-2” too big for the frame, could not open a window for fresh air, but there is good AC. It’s on a busy road, a few miles from town. Other: the rooms are paneled in dark wood & you may find this charming or too closed in. Some of my friends would love this place & others would dislike it. Restaurant: breakfast is included and it’s gourmet, but there are no choices of what you have. I feel like there dhould be at least 2choices. Dinner was top notch and pricey, with nice selections. A stuffed raccoon stared me down from the mantle as I ate a perfectly prepared steak! You have the be a person who enjoys uniqueness to stay here, not a person who only likes a typical hotel room. We got a kick out of it, and also it seems like the kind of place that would be cozy to visit in winter.
