Bamboleo Inn Belize

Fabulous place to stay and very safe. Rooms are great. Bathroom and shower exceed expectations. Erin and the staff are wonderful and very attentive. Food is great. This is my second stay here. Will be back for sure!

We recently stayed at Bamboleo Inn when we arrived in Belize and also on our last night before we flew home. Their proximity to the International Airport is very convenient. So convenient that the host gave us a ride to the airport when we departed. Our room was comfortable, clean and the AC worked well. When we arrived at the Inn on our last night before flying home the following day, they were ready for us and even though we had not arranged for dinner and it was close to 8:00, Shamira made us a delicious lasagne and salad. She is also a tour guide and had some suggestions for where we should visit on our return trip. Bamboleo Inn isn't a fancy place, but it was very homey, clean and safe. We would definitely stay here again.

I was the only person staying at Bamboleo Inn. I chose to overnight here given the reviews and proximity to the airport. When I arrived, I was shown to my room by the caretake. The ceiling fan did not work and the room was VERY musty. When asked about it, I was told that I could use the AC. Although the AC worked, I could not adjust it. The control did not work and it was stuck at 24 degrees Celsius. This should have been cool enough but the AC unit needed refrigerate or something as it dod not cool. I could only get warm air to blow all night long. No other rooms were offered when asked about these issues even though I was the only person staying there. When I asked about breakfast, which was suppose to be included, the caretaker told me that since I was leaving at 730am, there would be no breakfast available because she did not arrive until 8 am. This was never mentioned in the website. It seemed that the caretake could not get out of there fast proving minimal details. On a positive note, the place was clean and very close to the international airport. This could be a good place top stay but there are some issues.

I arrived early in the day, and Colin was very responsive and understanding of my situation allowing me to have a room immediately. The room was comfortable and clean. Later in the day, Colin came by to check if I needed anything. Since the nearby restaurants were closed, he personally made the drive to pick up food and deliver it to us. The next day, he even gave us a ride to the airport. His personalized attention meant a lot to me. Thank you to Colin and to the Bomboleo Inn!

Apparently they didn’t know that we were coming. The hotel hadn’t received the reservation from *******. However it was no problem and they quickly arranged rooms for our party of four. We were able to walk to a local restaurant and had a great Belizean breakfast at Bamboleo!

When we arrived we were told our reservation had been cancelled. They claimed that “someone” called and cancelled our reservation. I think they oversold the property and couldn’t guarantee the room so they made an excuse. They were incredibly nice and helpful through the whole thing, even calling another potential hotel to check availability. But still… I want my money back. We will see how ******* handles this scenario.

Spent 2 nights while visiting friends in the area. The room was clean and fairly large. Beds were quite comfortable, by Belize standards. Very quiet neighborhood. Erin and Colin were great hosts and we can't say enough about Erin's Fry Jacks! Only issue was the water pressure in an otherwise nice shower (would have been a 5 star rating). We understand that their family had recently purchased the Inn and are in the process of upgrading., so the pressure should improve.

This place is isolated. unless you have a car do NOT go. there is Zero communication by email, phone, text. We had to go there to learn , The room was clean, quiet, A/C,& with NO hot water for $90. US plus transportation fees. They do not accept credit cards. the nearest ATM is a 20 minute walk through a questionable neighborhood. They are apologetic that they HAVE to charge each party a minimum of $15/ US to drive you to the closest ATM. 5 min drive away. They advertise that they will fix dinner for isolated clients. But no. They have no chef, not grocery store nearby. The closest restaurant is another $15 US to get a ride to , another 10 min away. The restaurant Rustic Lodge is in an attractive marina, However, the only food they had was tough chicken, no fresh seafood. People pleasant there but don't count on anything but a meager meal . Bomboleo Inn did take us to the airport for another $!5. US 10 minutes away. which only served frozen pizza for breakfast. Save frustration & pay the extra dollars to stay in Belize City

Pros: Clean floors and sheets, quiet, AC worked Cons: This place was… fine. Felt a bit like a place that once was. Those images in the description of people smiling and enjoying a glass of wine over a nice meal are definitely not a reality of this place. The tables are gone. There are holes in the screens upstairs. There was not an option for food. Other than that the room was… fine. We were given half a roll of toilet paper. There were 3 spoons and a knife… no forks. Some of the dishes were dirty. Dirty, moldy drying mat. No dish soap. Window locks didn’t work and we were on the ground floor. Credit card machine was broken so we had to go to an ATM to pay for the room. A bit sketchy to get back to… but I guess that’s what made it quiet. It felt like a step above a backpacker’s accommodation but without the backpacker budget. It worked but I wouldn’t stay here again.
