Hotel de Paris

I really like this hotel, the location is perfect for the old town, with shops, bars, cafes etc within a few metres walk. The main transport square is only maybe 50m away, with lots of buses and bikes. It’s such a cool vibe inside the hotel, like 70’s style. Very friendly staff, very good value. The breakfast is ok, like a continental selection, nothing hot (apart from boiled eggs) but it’s fine. I’m on the second floor and here is a slight fan type noise all the time, it’s quieter as you go down each floor, but I’ve slept well. The veranda is a little grubby, as is the central outdoor area, but everything else is immaculate. Don’t expect that perfect modern hotel look, the bathroom for example looks “dated” but that’s the point - it’s really clean and looks so cool and homely, not like all the usual modern hotels that have no character. Good selection of books downstairs. I really like the place, originally booked 3 nights but extended that to just over a week which says something. Only marked 3 for Services as there’s not much else other than rooms, a chill out area and the breakfast room, so don’t expect spas/pools etc

From the welcome to the departure, nothing was too much effort. This is a wonderfully welcoming, mother & daughter run, hidden gem. My room and en-suite was spotless and I had easily the most comfortable hotel bed I can remember. The cold breakfast buffet was all I would want with a great variety to choose from. And the best thing of all for me apart from the wonderfully caring service was the indoor patio with no ceiling, very comfortable seating and even bike racks for the energetic. Open 24/7, it was a great place to unwind at the end of a very long day; and very pleasant to sit in during the day. It was also great value for money and perfectly located, just a 7-minute walk to the yacht harbour, great cafes, bars, and restaurants. A wonderful place to stay!

We had a family room at the top of the hotel. Was extremely hot poorly insulated room. Air temp was 27 0c that day but it was like a sauna in the room. No air con. Had to leave the patio door and window open all night so we could sleep. Btw this patio belongs to the room next door and is blocked by a shabby wooden partition that doesn’t allow for privacy. Unfortunately for us there were smokers in this room and they opened their shutters at 4 am chain smoking on the patio for the rest of the night!! All the smoke went into our room. So disgusting. We were awake for the rest of the night because of it. Decorated in 60s style so retro but requires urgent upgrading as shower falling apart. No deep cleaning takes place in this room. Windows dirty and skirting filthy. In short if you have children avoid at all costs. If you want something cheap and in town this will fit the bill. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful building with such potential. Also recommend that the owner gets rid of the carpet on stairs and landing. It was so smelly. On a plus side the staff were lovely and pleasant.
