Arenal Oasis Eco Lodge & Wildlife Refuge

We were staying up the road, and came to the Oasis Eco Lodge for breakfast during our stay. This was absolutely lovely, as we had an amazing view of the birds having their breakfast at the same time. It was so good that we came back for dinner two nights running. The food was good, portions generous and the cocktails were excellent. It was also very good value for money.

Lovely individual cabin with very comfortable bed, very clean, good shower. Delicious breakfast, served at the table we chose the traditional Costa Rican breakfast of rice, scrambled egg, cheese, and plantain. Plus tropical fruits. Really helpful staff at reception and an easy to follow trail within the grounds plus a butterfly garden and lovely gardens to enjoy.

The night walk with Juan was great! Juan is very knowledgeable and pointed out numerous species of frogs as well as vipers, spiders, crickets, snails, ants, a crab!, a female sloth with her baby and several species of fungi including bioluminescence! Couldn’t ask for more! Thanks again Juan.

You truly are immersed in nature. We fell asleep to crickets humming and woke to howler monkeys and birds chirping. There’s only 10 bungalows so it feels very secluded. Very refreshing. Shower had hot water. Surprisingly close to town, very convenient spot and felt secure. Incredible service, the restaurant was a good price and delicious food. Free breakfast when you’re staying there. We opted for the night walk ($35/pp if you’re staying there) and got to see snakes, spiders, insects and frogs. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Small group too which made it easy to see things. I would 100% stay here again.

We loved this stop on our Costa Rica family trip. It is only a few minutes outside the town of La Fortuna, but you feel like you are in the jungle. An absolute highlight of our trip was the nighttime guided nature hike on site. It was amazing all the wildlife we saw in a couple of hours...myriad different colorful frogs, in particular, but also a sloth (before it got totally dark), insects, and snakes. The rooms are pretty simple, but spacious and fully functional. TBH, it was nice not having a tv...it added to the feeling of being out in nature. We loved it and regretted that we only stayed there two nights.

Enjoyed our stay at Arenal Oasis Eco Lodge. Our bungalow was large. Parking was in front of the bungalow. Nice & clean. Plenty of outlets. Bathroom is large. They do have a large tub with a shower head, like the kind you find in europe. I don't care for this type of set up as I usually end up with water all over the place. Other than that the shower was nice. Plenty of warm water & water pressure was good. Lighting in the bathroom could use some improvement. bedding was comfortable. the bungalows do not have AC. It appears many places in Arenal do not have AC. This was no problem. The temperature dropped in the evening. There is a ceiling fan to circulate the air. You will hear lots of wildlife during the day and night. Frogs & other animals all night. Early in the morning the birds start their singing. This morning we were awakened about 5am by the howling of 5-6 monkeys in the trees above our bungalow. Took us a while to spot them. this was a nice alarm clock. there is a nice restaurant here. Staff & food is good. Nice place to stop for a drink before bed. The lodge is in the middle of the wildlife refuge. A nice walking path to see frogs & spiders & birds. Very nice walk. The lodge is not far from town. maybe two miles? La Fortuna is quite touristy. We were happy to be located a little out of the way. I would stay here again.
