Hotel dekat Daisen-in Temple, Kyoto

It was a very good stay. I walked around with the tour guide and deeply experienced the philosophy of light and shadow in the garden. One day of dinner was Japanese Kaiseki and the other day was Aman restaurant, each with its own characteristics. It was a pity that I didn't meet Chef Takagi again for Japanese Kaiseki (I met him in his hometown Zeniya a few years ago). It is a recommended hotel, and it is also one of the Aman hotels with Japanese Kyoto characteristics.

It's an impressive hotel! Attentive service staff who can speak fluent English are always ready to assist in any way. Partager room is large and comfy with all the necessities provided including a capsule coffee machine and tea set. There are also multiple restaurants to choose from in the hotel varying in cuisines, however, some do require a day reservation in advance, or you can opt for the room service if you are feeling cosy for the day. They also provide a shuttle bus service to Karasuma Oike station on a schedule (about twice every hour) and the journey takes around 7 minutes. Really pleased with the experienced, will definitely book again whenever I am back in Kyoto!

Stayed for 4 nights, the overall experience was great! First of all, before check-in, the hotel team set up a WeChat group to understand our check-in needs, and provided Kyoto tour and dining suggestions. They also helped us book some very good restaurants and gave us many practical tour suggestions; During check-in, the team's 24-hour WeChat group standby was very considerate and timely to meet our various needs during our stay! Room experience: The room design is advanced, and it can be seen that the hotel has spent a lot of thought on hard and soft furnishings, taking into account both aesthetic expression and various life functions, making our stay very comfortable. The room is equipped with a washing machine, microwave oven, coffee machine, induction cooker and kitchen island. The single room area is more than 60 square meters, and it also has a tea break terrace, which is very suitable for family long-term travel. The geographical location is also very advantageous. The bus station and subway station are within 5 minutes of walking, and it is 3 stops away from the bustling area of ​​Kyoto. Convenience stores and delicious restaurants are all within 7-10 minutes of walking. In front of the hotel is the Kamo River Jumping Stone. My daughter goes to the Kamo River to play in the water every morning. In general, the geographical location is excellent and impeccable. The staff is very high-quality and considerate. Without exception, they can serve us from the perspective of guests, making us feel at ease like going home. This hotel has indeed become our home in Kyoto! The receptionist was very nice. The room was small good for solo traveler. The hallways are equipped with air purifiers. My only issue was the bathroom/toilet. It doesn’t smell okay so I kept the exhaust fan on the whole time.

This is a very nice little hotel not far from the mountains and also very close to Nijo-Jo Castle. The transportation links are excellent as buses stop right outside and the metro is a five minute walk away. I would highly recommend this to anyone on a budget.

G/f layout is very strange with restaurant/ breakfast place, being cut into 2 halves by the lobby lounge. You can’t enjoy your breakfast at all coz 1) I have to hold a tray with food carefully walk through the huge crowds, 2) more luckily I got Australian tour & Taiwan tour today, over 50 people including eaters & tourists gathered at the lounge+breakfast place chatting waiting to set off. Then the tour guide yell with high voice for announcements. What a lovely scene. If you like meeting vibrant & overwhelming global tours or groups of secondary school students dashing around, that’s the place for you.

Well located hotel that is connected to the subway and within walking distance to the Imperial Palace. Modern and clean hotel, highly recommended.

We loved our stay at Hotel the Mitsui. Super nice and zen design . Absolutely adore their lobby area, which I think is designed by Andre Fu. Always drawn into his work somehow. Breakfast food was okay, but the view really made up everything l. Super relaxing & beautiful Service was great. Most of them were able to speak English proficiently. There’s a thermal spring at their basement, which you have to call the reception before you go to ensure there’s enough space. Everything was well prepared, including swimwear, disposable underpants, towels, water, etc. Since they control the # of people, everyone has their own space and it still feels very private. Room is nice with many details. Love their huge selection of pillows available for guests. It’s not huge, but the space is well used. Location wise, I wouldn’t say it’s the most convenient, but if you take a cab, everything is reachable in 20 mins max, so it’s not too bad. There are still good restaurants and touristy places to go that are in walkable distance, so it’s not middle of nowhere. Overall, fantastic experience which I will recommend for others!

This time was the most serious one. I thought it didn’t matter whether it was expensive or expensive when staying in a casual and high-end hotel. Unexpectedly, except for the good service, there was no other redeeming feature in terms of hardware. First of all, the location. It's not convenient. If you want to go to a convenience store or nearby restaurants, you need to walk for more than 10 minutes. The entrance of the hotel is very hidden. When you arrived, you couldn't find the entrance after walking around twice. The hotel is small and there are basically no public facilities. There is no own parking lot, no fitness room, and no large bathing area, except for a relatively high-end restaurant. Breakfast is included, but if you want to eat better, you have to pay extra. No matter how many nights you stay, only one dinner is included. This is the first time I have seen this kind of offer, and it is not an expensive dish. If you want to eat wagyu, you need to pay extra. The price is expensive and the portion is small. The rent itself is two to three times more expensive than other hotels in Kyoto area. When you book a room on the website, there is a balcony in the photo, but when you check in, you are told that it cannot be used. The view outside the window is the sidewalk across the street. The mattress has no elasticity and the more you sleep, the more it sinks. In the Mini bar, you need everything except water and coffee. Needless to say about the fees and prices. I really want to know why they charge this rent. It feels like a money grab. I have said that I will never stay in a hotel of this group in the future
