We stayed nearby in July, and ended up coming to Maisha every single day to hangout. The juices, coffees, food and cocktails are delicious, the staff are super friendly and I think it has one of the best set ups for sunbathing/relaxing on Paje beach. Lots of great spots to sit and the view out onto the beach is basically paradise. Huge thanks to all the staff for turning up every day with a smile and keeping us well fed and watered - and for keeping my partner comfy with his injured leg.

The rooms are very basic, no amenities provided and even no drinking water provided. The hotel suffers from electricty outages more than other places, so servoces like AC are just not available. Management not available, you are left on your own.

John at reception was AMAZING!! He was so friendly and attentive - he organized my rides and activities for me. I chose to stay in the rooms with AC and not the bungalow type rooms because it would have been to hot for me. The shower pressure isn't the greatest in my room. The hotel is directly on the beach and they have plenty of sun beds with umbrella shades. I wasn't a big fan of the food/drinks at the restaurant though but the staff was amazingly friendly. Would stay here again!

The hotel grounds, staff, and views are fantastic! The beach bungalows are rustic with no A/C, but it was worth it to experience the welcoming staff, beach access, and good food.

This is the worst hotel I have stayed in and I have been to Zanzibar 11 times! The only nice thing about this hotel is that it is right on the beach. The manager right down to the staff is as rude as they come and not concerned with the wellbeing of his staying and paying guests. What you get for what you pay for in terms of us having booked the luxury rooms is worlds apart! We will most definitely never be back! Our vacation was spoilt because of this.

Beautiful hotel right on the beach. The staff was extremely nice, friendly and very helpful. The food amazing and the menu was great with I wide variety. They had live music occasionally and barbecue nights wich was really fun. And the room was very nice. I put 4 stars instead of 5 because we had asked if we could do an early check-in cause our flight got there early in the morning and we would of been at the hotel at 6.30a.m. They said everything was fine and we could do an early check-in. When we got there at 6.30am there was no one there, and when someone finally showed up they told us that we would have to wait until 10a.m. because our room wasn't ready. We waited near the bar area which was beautiful by the way, and when it was finally 10a.m. they told us the room would be ready at 11a.m. The same thing happened again and we got in our room at 12p.m. after all. That was our only issue from our experience. All in all it was a very nice hotel and I would highly recommend it!

This Hotel offers stunning ocean views, comfortable rooms and an unbeatable location right on the beach. The staff is incredible friendly and making our stay special. Very relaxing atmosphere, the ideal spot in Paje. Highly recommended :)

It was so greate and Wunderding. Moreover definitely to short next time we will stay longer. Really nice location und for Family very Good,too. We loved the nice view and the quiet. The Restaurant is very Good too. We enjoyed the greate meals and very very nice staff, Really polite service. Hope to come back soon.

😊 I had an amazing experience at Maisha Matamu Beach Hotel Maju. The location is perfect, right on Zanzibar’s stunning beach with incredible ocean views. The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious, and very comfortable. The food was delicious, especially the fresh seafood, and the service was outstanding — the staff went above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean was a highlight, providing a serene and relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious and peaceful getaway in Zanzibar.
