HUAKE YOUTH HOSTEL

Huake was previously a hotel converted into an international youth hostel. We booked a twin-bed room for one night. There is a Uyghur girl who spoke impecable Mandarin with a tad bit of Beijing ascent at the front desk when we arrived. The check-in was speedy. The room was spacious and clean so were the bedding (no foul smell). The uniqueness about this hostel is, it does not provide bath towels and toilet papers. Instead, guests are given one-use towels and a pack of tissue papers which we double up as toilet papers. Initially, I thought the one-use towels (place on a try in the room) were bathing soap because they were in compressed form so I went to ask the Uyghur girl for towls and she told me those are actually compressed one-use towels. There are restaurants and minimarts next to the hostel and a night food street nearby (approx 200-300m by foot). No a bad choice if you need a layover or a couple of days stay to explore Kuqa.

The shower situation is kind of bad because all the showers are over the toilet. The beds in the hostel are extremely comfortable and the rooms are sufficiently dark. Hostel has a nice balcony area where the photo I posted was taken .

nice place to stay, comfortable bed, clean sheets and towels. The owner took us on a couple of road trips and he charged a very fair price.

The lady at the reception was really kind and gives a lot of information about things to do and good restaurants (she doesn't speak English but with translate we could communicate well). The room is large, but smelled a bit of smoke. There was no mirror and almost all the chairs on the terrace were broken. However, it is a great value for money! The street downstairs has some really nice restaurants. The entrance to the hostel is through the entrance of the Super8 hotel.
