I am writing this after a very recent all inclusive stay at the 4 star rated Atlantis hotel in Kos, and the issues and disappointments we found during our stay. Upon arrival at the hotel we were faced with a very nice lobby and reception area, which was clean, cool and airy, check in was swift and smooth with no issues, the staff were not really very welcoming but they got the job of checking us in done. We were shown to our room, we had booked a family room for my 2 children and myself, the room was extremely basic, it had an empty fridge, no tea and coffee making facilities such as kettle or coffee machine, the beds were again very basic, behind the beds were plywood panels which looked like they had been added fairly recently and which had large gaps between them and the wall they were attached to, we also had visitors in the room, we woke after the first night to find we had ants everywhere around the bed my children were sleeping in, we also found ants in bags. The room itself was separated with a door, the front room had the 2 separate single beds and a side table, nothing else. The back room had a side table and a wardrobe which contained the safe, the window of the back room only had 1 curtain for a large window, the curtain did not fit the window properly and we had to "do our best" to make it suitable. When we mentioned the ants to reception they said they would get housekeeping to spray the room and prevent the ants from entering, if this did not work they would change our room. The next day the ants were still in the room (629) so they moved us to a different room (711) which was very similar to the original room, doors did not fit the frames properly, door handles were loose and fell off, the bath itself felt as if it would give way any moment, it had the same plywood backing behind the beds and lack of coffee/tea making facilities. The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and easy to find your way around. The food at the hotel is ok, it's nothing special, but it is ok, there is a half decent variety but some of the food is often cold, no waiter service for a 4 star, just people clearing tables, there is no fresh "omelette" station and no interaction from the staff making you feel welcome and valued, no drinks poured for you. There is no "a la carte" or other restaurant other than the main restaurant and a smaller version of the main called "Tavern in the blue" where they serve gyros at lunchtime, other than that you get the same choice as the main restaurant, just not as much variation. Snacks such as burgers, hot dogs and gyros are NOT served from 10.30am until 9pm as other have stated, you will be lucky to get a slice of pizza or a slice of cake. They did burgers on one day only, which was Sunday evening in the main restaurant and it came as a cooked patty only. There is basically no snack bar for people that choose to eat when they like, if you don't eat during the set meal times you don't get any food. The drinks, no brand n
