Tolani Resort Koh Samui

If you looking for an excluded location away from everything then this is the place for you. But for us this was more or less like an unfinished project. In my opinion it was in the middle of nowhere, there’s no kitchen in the villas and the on site “cafe/restaurant” has been temporarily closed since it’s been opened. The main swimming pool has no filter and doesn’t get cleaned, the wood planks is all coming off the hinges and at night it’s super dark with barely any lighting. The “beach front” is just a pile of rubber. Our villa was a garden villa with the only one that had a huge tree attracting all sorts of wild life. We couldn’t even sit in our garden as we constantly got bitten and when asked front desk they said they have no first aid on site. Rooms would barely get cleaned if requested.

When we arrived at Tolani resort we had known previous that some construction was going to be taking place but what we hadn’t been informed of was that nearly all of the other villas in the resort seemed to be under reconstruction . We hadn’t been told until arrival that the pool and restaurant would be closed. Also upon arrival we were informed that reception staff are only on the premises till 5pm, meaning we were left on our own all night with no staff on site or no security in a very secluded area. This made us feel very unsafe and uneasy especially since it seemed that we were the only people staying at the property as we saw no other guests on site. The room was outdated and there were small flies flying around the room making it seem a bit dirty. The room had one working light which was in the corner of the room by the door (at the other side of the room no where near the bed) so as it started to get later in the day the room was in darkness. We tried turning on the two lights at the side of the bed but when we switched these on they immediately went off again and it made the other light go off. The switch also made a loud crackling sound which made us feel very uneasy as it was clear there was a problem with the electrics! Also on the sliding door of the villa there was a gap at the top of the door meaning the door didn’t exactly close properly so any kind of insects could come in or even make it easy for someone to break in! We already had two lizards come into the room in the space of a few hours. In the end as it got to 7pm and we were in darkness in the room we decided it wasn’t worth the feeling of being unsafe and we looked for a new hotel to book which is inconvenient to us as we are travelling around for a few weeks and didn’t want to have to spend unnecessary money. We found a new hotel and left. This ‘resort’ should not be open to the public especially when under reconstruction. The whole place gave an eerie vibe and felt like an abandoned establishment that should be shut down. There was no feeling of security there as no staff were on site over night and anyone could’ve had access to the area. We paid over 400€ to stay here and it most definitely is not worth that money at all especially when it ended up costing us way more as we had to move elsewhere. Thankfully we got a refund but this place should be avoided at all costs. It seems from other reviews the place has been under construction for some time now which makes it seem like an excuse for how badly it is being run.

Hôtel en chantier, sans restaurant, sans piscine, sans fitness. Réception ouverte quelques heures durant la journée et petit déjeuner apporté dans la chambre mais immangeable! Jusqu’au savon, aux linges et à la climatisation, tout était terrible!! Un scandale de proposer cet hôtel actuellement et surtout en le faisant passer pour un 5 étoiles!!!??
