We stayed in good times resort, more precisely in villa ginger @goodtimes resort for a little more than 1 month in December/ January 2022/23. We are a family of 5 (kids: 10, 8 & 2) and had an extremely good time. The house is big and surrounded by a big garden. The pool of good times is in the area and not even a minute to walk (kids usually ran there so 20secs... ;) ) Mr Peak and the crew of the resort was very helpful and responded to all our requests as good as possible. The gym in the resort is a bit outdated, but still perfectly usable. As well, we took Thai boxing classes 3 times a week with the whole family, which was awesome! As guest of good times, you get discounts there. Villa Ginger is not located directly at the beach, but it only takes a 3min ride. Generally it usually doesn't take longer that 10 minutes to arrive anywhere on the island (from one side to the other maybe 40min in total). It is a no car (except the taxis) island - only scooter. We highly recommend to visit Koh Kham - an abandoned island with a 5min ride from Koh Mak, but the most beautiful beach! The nice thing about Koh Mak is that the island is never too full, or you never have the feeling it is. The beaches are not overbuilt and the hotels and resorts are nice and somehow restrained. Also we really loved, that it is not a "white Island", as very often seen in Asia. The guests/ tourists on Koh Mak are from everywhere, Europe, US, Thailand and Asia in general. It feels very homogeneous... Please ask the crew from Goodtimes resort for restaurant tipps -- they have a good list on where to go for the best food. (and I gotta say, restaurants on Koh Mak are really good and we are quite spoiled coming from Berlin). You can also rent motorbikes directly with Mr. Peak, the manager of the resort. We can absolutely recommend the resort and the island - although I am doubting to recommend it at all, fearing that too many people hear about it and join in.. ;)
