We stayed at Hill Cottage, Ko Lanta from the 27th to 31st January, 2025. The resort is set on a hill about half way down the west coast of the island. To get to the nearest beach you have to walk down to the road (about 50 metres) into the small local village which has all the essential shops a services such as an ATM and many restaurants. You can then walk down one of the many small lanes to the sea, another 50 metres. You can then walk miles along the beach which is clean, and although lined with small resorts and restaurants, is relatively uncrowded. Hill cottage is owned and run by a Thai family who are fantastic. We found them warm and friendly and they did everything they could to make hour stay comfortable and memorable. The rooms are clean with very comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms. There is a choice of rooms with fans, which are slightly cheaper, or rooms with both fans and air conditioning. There is a restaurant which offers both European and Thai cuisine and all meals are cooked to order. If you have any special dietry requirements the chef(s) will do their best to cater for you. The resort is very quiet, most rooms have a view of the sea and of the mangrove forest, there is a pool table, moterbike hire, taxi hire service and you can book all your tours through Ink who has first hand knowlege of all of them. Just a short ride by Tuk-tuk, scooter or taxi to the southern tip of the island there are several beautiful coves with secluded beaches, which form part of the National Park, There are also some excellent restaurants overlooking the sea on the hills above. We loved our stay at Hill Cottage and were wonderfully looked after by Ink, Anne, Nui and the rest of the family. This not a grand, expensive hotel, but a home from home. Highly recommended 10/10.
