Hotel Chesa Grischuna

Wonderful historic hotel which has cleverly avoided the lure of "modernisation" which has killed the atmosphere of so many other once great Swiss hotels: no cheap plastic furniture or supermarket music blaring from loudspeakers here! Instead, wonderfully warm, wood-panelled interiors with artwork everywhere you look, all the way down to the bespoke crockery and cutlery. Delicious high-end food worth its 14 points in the Guide Millau and an impeccable service round off the wonderful experience!

Cozy Elegance & Great Cuisine Hotel Chesa Grisuna in Klosters is a delightful discovery, offering a blend of rustic charm and luxury. The accommodations are cozy and inviting, with stunning mountain views. The hotel’s restaurant is a culinary gem, serving traditional Swiss dishes with contemporary flair. The Forelle bleu and home-smoked salmon are excellent. Dining here is not just a meal; it’s an experience, thanks to the old historic ambiance and excellent service. With great anticipation, we booked a weekend at the Chesa Grischuna. A house with a long and glamorous past in new hands to revive the glamour of days gone by. After all, crowned heads and Hollywood stars used to dine and sleep in the Chesa Grischuna. We were greeted by a house with a patina that had settled over everything over the years without looking dingy. Staff who operates close to the guest but seems somewhat unguided. Rooms with original furnishings from the 30s with newer, meanwhile aged bathrooms but good beds. And a breakfast that was good but complicated to order. A place for lovers of historic houses, then, for whom tradition and patina are not a flaw but an expectation. Even if we didn't feel anything of Greta Garbo, Gene Kelly, or King Charles III, we were at least taken back to our childhood by the wall paintings of Alois Carigiet. So why the low rating? Past and patina aside, CHF 490 per night is too much for a room in the Chesa Grischuna without any ifs and buts. The new owners will have to go over the books again. Not only will we not come back a second time, but also no recommendation a first time. It's a shame because the house and its staff deserve it.

We were forced to change our reservation to arrive one day earlier and stay for two days instead of the one we booked. They readily accepted our change even though it was not convenient for them. It turns out they opened the hotel early for the season for us. We were the only guests there. We were treated as if we were long term returning guests although we hadn’t been there before. The staff could not have been nicer. This hotel emanates charm. The room was large and with a very, very large balcony looking out over the town and towards the mountains. They laid out a very nice breakfast buffet just for us and made eggs and omelets to order. We could not have asked for more.

Wenn Sie sich in Geduld üben möchten, gehen Sie unbedingt in die Bar vom Hotel Chesa Grischuna. Wir wollten gegen 21:30h einen Drink an der Bar geniessen und haben zuerst mal 1/2h gewartet bis uns jemand an der Bar bemerkt hatte, dann eine weitere 1/2h bis wir die Bestellung einem mürrischen Kellner aufgeben konnten und dann 1/2h später waren weder Kellner noch unsere Drinks in Sicht. Vor uns auf der Bar stand zudem ein Tablett voll mit dreckigen Gläsern und leeren Flaschen, als wir den Kellner baten das Tablett doch dort wegzuräumen, teilte er uns mit einer unglaublichen Arroganz mit, dass das dort so stehen bleiben müsse!? Wir haben den unterirdischen Wahnsinn dann abgebrochen und sind durstig ins Nachbarhaus gegangen. Dort wurden wir trotz vielen Gästen sehr nett begrüsst, sofort bedient und sassen 15min später endlich mit unseren Drinks an der Bar! Wir verstehen absolut, dass um diese Jahreszeit viel los ist, aber Kundenzufriedenheit & Freundlichkeit geht anderst!

Avevo letto alcune biografie su Greta Garbo e l'autobiografia di Salka Viertel: in tutte si menziona questo delizioso hotel che, per chi lo frequentava a quei tempi, era molto molto piu' di un alloggio. Era un luogo in cui si era protetti, ci si stava benone e si mangiava altrettanto bene circondati da un paesaggio stupendo. Non e' cambiato nulla. Come ripeto, dopo le mie letture mi son detta : "...e perche' non andarci?". Tutto perfetto dal check-in al check-out, staff delizioso, tutti pronti ad aiutare, consigliare e condividere con l'ospite tutti i momenti di questa dolcissima vacanza. La struttura ha conservato tutto il fascino dei tempi passati, e pensare che su quelle scale e nel ristorante era passata anche la Divina Greta mi emozionata e mi veniva voglia di restare dentro tutta la giornata. La mia camera era single ma ampia per starvi comodamente con letto perfetto, bollitore per te', caffe' e tisane che veniva riempito ogni giorno oltre alla grande bottiglia di acqua. Il bagno aveva tutto cio' che di contemporaneo ed efficiente su possa desiderare. Dalla camera uscivo sull'enorme terrazzo abbellito da fiori ed ho molto apprezzato il separe' in legno che assicurava la mia privacy quando alla sera ammiravo il paesaggio col profumo di fiori e dei pini. Eccellente la qualita' della prima colazione e del rustorante
