Cypress Moon Inn

Greg and Linda are excellent hosts. They operate a beautifully furnished and appointed little inn. My wife and I spent 3 nights there hoping for a restful and quiet getaway. We were not disappointed. We had a splendid time observing the Albermarle Sound and its wild life and hiking the nearby trails. There are many excellent restaurants 5-10 minutes away. Highly recommended for a peace and quiet little vacation.

Magical! If I had one word to describe my stay it would be magical. Upon our arrival to this hidden gem, we were greeted by Linda. She welcomed us into this gorgeous home, built by her husband Greg, tucked away in lush greenery. It's far enough away to feel comfortably private, but close enough to beaches, shopping and landmarks like the Wright Brothers Museum. The room was beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and had a tempurpedic mattress and pillows, but my favorite part was the balcony! A relaxing swing, table and chairs, and what a view!!! I can't believe all the wildlife I was fortunate enough to see right off the balcony- cranes, does, bucks, raccoons, and so many birds. If you like to kayak, paddleboard or ride a bike, all are available here. Greg and Linda were delightful hosts, very knowledgeable about the area and they did everything possible to ensure we had the best vacation. TLDR: Stay here!!! You will LOVE it!

I hate panning a place, but this place deserves it. As I trust Tripadvisor reviews, I cannot let the overblown ones stand without including this one. Wanted a place to sit, read, and do nothing. I never require fancy, but I do require functional. This was the opposite:over-decorated but lacking the basics. Take out all the doo-dads from Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx and install proper plumbing, a/c, and screening. They advertise a/c. In 2022, a window unit from the 1960's just stirred the 110% humidity. As the doors have no screens, we had wildlife: roaches and a few flies. In summer, no one could sleep like that. The mosquitoes would eat you alive. Even if central a/c is not possible, newer ventless units cheap, easy, and effective. For $175/night in a building with a full kitchen, I did not expect a sad grocery store muffin as 'breakfast.' Truly, I would have been happier with a Starbucks card to use down the road.

Came over with my daughter for a few days to check out the area and I sooo wanted to love this place. It has a beautiful place overlooking the water. The sunsets were spectacular and the mornings serene. I didn’t mind the simple breakfast of store bought muffins and fruit as I don’t eat breakfast anyway but if I did it would’ve been a-ok. I’m a coffee snob so I would’ve liked better coffee and actually a bigger pot but again, it was ok. My main issue was cleanliness. The place smells strongly of essential oils which doesn’t really bother me but it truly is very strong and pungent. My daughter was nauseated by it. Cobwebs were everywhere! EVERYWHERE. The back of our shower was entirely a cobweb. Huge cobweb along and behind the toilet. The corner of the breakfast nook was all cobweb. When we pulled the bed down the top of the bedding when pulled down had cobwebs all over it. There were cobwebs on the light and the fan. I almost cleaned the heck outta the place because I was on the verge of a panic attack. My daughter told me I needed to chill and we just needed to stay away as much as possible. We were already paid up with no refunds possible. Had I had a chance at recouping my money I would’ve left and slept on the beach if necessary. I enjoyed the area and like I said they have a wonderful place and it has so much potential but it was such a disappointment that it was filthy. I will return to the OBX but not there.
