The Crest Apartments

You will need a car as the apartments are located out of the centre of town. Actually, you'll need a car anyway, because you'll want to get around Norfolk Island to see the sights. The apartment we had was dated and smelled very musty. We left the door completely open during the day while we were out, hoping the mustiness would dissipate. It didn't. We covered the couch is the lounge room with the spare blankets and this seemed to alleviate a little of the mustiness, but not for long.

Comfortable but a little run down. Older accommodation. Clean, spacious, beds comfortable, full kitchen facilities. Didn't see the "rain shower head" in the bathroom though :) . There was however a shower curtain that liked to "get up close and personal". Would be no good for elderly as car parking was 50 meters from the units down a steep grassy hill and poorly lit. Complex operated by the upmarket Governors lodge. Need to collect and drop off keys at the lodge. No reception on site at the crest. We had a few problems with the smoke alarm and DVD player. Very hard to get someone to assist. Simple maintenance items seemed to be overlooked. A shame really. Driveway had huge potholes, light bulbs not replaced, clock had flat battery, Screen door to balcony did not open properly. It is one of the furthest from the main town. not that this was very far. Less than 8 Kms. The Governors Lodge charged our room before we arrived which we had not agreed to. We were going to use another Credit card and split payment etc. We were unable to obtain a copy of our receipt for this payment. Disappointing. Overall, I would stay again but for the price charged, you could find much better accommodation options on the island.

Amenities were the same as our previous visits. Comfortable basic clean accommodation. We like the location a few minutes drive from Burnt Pine area. We were kept awake one night when smoke alarm malfunctioned and went off every 10 minutes. There was no response on after hours number for about 1.5 hours. Eventually resolved after two hours. This tardy response could be improved. Compensation was requested and provided when we complained about the disruption. .
