Orient Star Khiva Hotel- Madrasah Muhammad Aminkhan 1855

Lovely boutique hotel conveniently located within the city walls. Bedrooms are in old student rooms of the old madrasa overlooking a central courtyard. Breakfast was usual buffet table and located across the road in separate building. A great town to visit.

This hotel is an old historical Madrassah I stayed at this lovely place whilst on a Wild Frontiers tour of Uzbekistan. It's location is inside the old city wall. Khiva itself was the highlight of my holiday. Staying in this hotel was a big contribution to that. The rooms are the students cells. The rooms are furnished with traditional style furniture. The bathroom had everything you needed. Our group all agreed it had a great atmosphere and was a very good location. You could walk around this place on your own and feel safe doing so. The only thing is that the beds have very hard mattresses. They could do with a mattress topper to help get a comfortable nights sleep. The breakfast is served in another Madrassah just across the road. There is a good selection of food for all tastes. It is buffet service. I felt very privileged to have stayed in this lovely historical place.

A superbly converted madrassa, used to be a school so you're staying in a student room with original features. Full of character, beds are hard ! Overlooking a magical courtyard. Breakfast selection in a huge restaurant will knock your brains out.

Such an impressive historic building in which this hotel is housed that tourists come to admire the courtyard. Situated in the historic center, but very calm place. The rooms are simply, but comfortably furnished. The breakfast buffet is served in the immediately nearby building with a beautiful breakfast room. Very friendly staff, cleanliness guaranteed and very good value for money. Recommended!

Spent couple of nights here on our journey across Uzbekistan. We had room on first floor, it was up a very narrow staircase with low headroom in parts, fortunately our luggage was taken up for us, save us from struggling with it. The rooms are fairly basic, but we found it comfortable enough, and enjoyed experience of staying in an historic former Madrassa, and it was very quiet. There is no window as such, just one above door. We found wi-fi ok in our room, but people on ground floor rooms couldn’t get signal. They had a bar, didn’t use it though and breakfast/dinner was in building across from hotel. Had dinner one night, it was good and fairly good selection at breakfast. Hotel is a tourist attraction, and saw a couple of groups being escorted through reception into courtyard. Best part was location, within the walls of the ancient city, all the main attractions a short walk away.

Beautiful hotel in the city walls of Khiva. So quiet and well located. fabulous big bedrooms and good breakfast. Lovely staff and no issues at all. Stayed two nights and would definitely go back. Certainly would recommend it to anyone looking at Khiva
