SERIBU RESORT 4-6th Dec 2023; Family of 4 2 adults, 8yr & 10yr olds. HOW TO GET THERE We arrived in Jakarta a day before to catch the next day morning ferry. There is only one 8am ferry to Pramuka daily, while the return journey is at 3pm. DERMAGA FERRY TERMINAL We booked the tickets online, Easybook, to get seats on the morning ferry. You can also buy the tickets on the day at the counter. The ferry point is at Dermanga 16, Marina Ancol, Jakarta. There are a few hotels around Ancol to stay if you’re afraid to be late. Discovery Hotel & Mercure are the nearest. We stayed at Mercure. The hotel provides transport to Dermaga Harbour for IDR50k. If you’re carrying just a backpack, you can go for that morning walk, just 15mins. There are two shops at the harbour, one is a provision shop & the other a small eatery. At the scheduled time, they will drop the mic & call your name to board the ferry. The ferry was full & it was squeezy, mostly staff who works on the island. Journey took 1.5hours but we reached the island just after an hour. PRAMUKA FERRY TERMINAL The island is under-going some major construction especially the new ferry terminal; good to see progress. Currently, the jetty is messy with construction sand & tools, broken walkways etc. No signboards that state the completion date though. No shops here, no washroom. It’s a get-off & get-out mode once you disembark. CHECK-IN Ferry arrived before 10am & check-in is 1pm. We checked in nonetheless, placed our bags at the reception hut & made our way exploring the island. ACCOMMODATION There are two types of accommodation at Pramuka Resort, hut & tentage. We stayed at the resort hut, so unable to review the tentage unit. Our room for four is big & really spacious. AC works well, good interior plaster walls & tiled bathroom. Hot water is available in the bathroom & they provide towels too. Beds & linens are fresh, we slept well all 2 nights. But not before spraying some Shelltox in the room. The outdoor balcony is big, comes with a table & four chairs. Stands to hang your wet outfits are well-placed outside the rooms. I can’t find faults here except the door-lock a bit tough, I thot the structure got misaligned over the years. Don’t expect 4 or 5-star resort, I am happy that everything works. No TV, no fridge & wifi is practically at one bar; use data instead. Rino & Riyan manage the resort. Really cool guys, very helpful & accommodative. AROUND THE ISLAND Pramuka is a non-resort island, that means there is a local community who work & live on the island. While a resort island is where there is no community, only the resort & it’s staff. Good to note that Pramuka houses the Administration Office of the Thousand Islands. The Mother of the Islands, so to speak. There are many homestays but only a handful resorts. Look for the best offer but stay near the sea. There are about 4-5 eateries where you can enjoy good local meals. Restoran 87 Tiang, Restoran Alam Nusantara are two good eateries. Re
