The Bookhouse Hotel

This was a very unique property, with lots of character. Even though the staff was not on site, they kept in good communication with us. The extra space and privacy was nice. My only suggestion would be to have paper towels and/or a kitchen towel in the kitchenette area.

Impressed with the space, loved the number and variety of books.

We stayed at the Bookhouse hotel as part of a visit to Longwood Gardens on December 4th. The hotel personifies "curated" from the incredible selection of books to the smallest detail of decoration. It is in within easy walking distance of three good restaurants. We went to Trattoria La Tavola for dinner - found it was BYOB - and walked over to Letty's Tavern to pick up a bottle of wine. To our surprise the hotel and Kennett Square added significantly to our enjoyment of the visit.

New fav hotel! This hotel is AMAZING. I wanted to take a picture of every little detail. It is not only gorgeous but in a great location too. Owner wrote right back to emails and was super friendly. I cannot wait to go back!

Hoped for better… I hate not being able to leave a glowing review. Conceptually this hotel seemed like a perfect getaway. Unfortunately, our experience was not what we had hoped for. We were the unfortunate patrons who didn’t get a parking spot once we arrived (it’s first come first serve) and lugging all of our luggage across the street was less than ideal. And the location was in a very high traffic area—it was so loud from about 4 a.m. until midnight each day. I do want to say, the room was so spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. And having a kitchenette was a nice touch. But, our second night there we had an issue with two spiders and a beetle in our room. And we had a window that faced a shared front patio, and the blinds didn’t fully cover the window, so we had to configure a blanket to cover it so we had some privacy. I know most of these issues seem minor. But when we paid $300/night, I guess we had expected a little better experience. Self check in was super smooth and the owners were very quick to respond to our questions. But sadly, we would not stay here again.

Amazing stay, the setup was awesome. My only issue is that it’s right up against the road and there’s no real soundproofing so you hear all the cars/trucks drive by and it’s a very busy street. I wish they had mentioned in the check in messages to bring ear plugs or headphones. Otherwise I cannot recommend this place enough!
