Cape Arundel Inn and Resort

This was our third visit to Cape Arundel Inn which is now my pick for my birthday getaway each year. I can’t imagine a more beautiful, relaxing place. The staff is extremely hospitable and everything is so relaxing- from the glass of Prosecco offered upon arrival, to the beautiful piped in music. Our favorite thing is to sit by the bay window on the main floor with a martini and small bites. It is so enjoyable to take in the ocean views, rocky coastline, and comforting fireplace on chilly days.

Absolutely amazing! We stayed in the main building in the junior suite with fireplace and superb views of the ocean/Walker Point! Everything about the Cape Arundel Inn exudes elegance and relaxation. The staff are clearly highly trained and so helpful and polite. The personal touches are very nice and are a nice enhancement to the overall experience. I love Kennebunkport and I adore the Cape Arundel Inn! Their on-site restaurant Ocean is also five stars, absolutely delicious! Make a reservation for Ocean ahead of time and ask for a table by a window, it’s gorgeous! We will definitely be back!

The inn has absolutely spectacular views (get an ocean view room). The staff is utterly lovely, helpful, and nice. However. To pay over $900/ night for a small room this basic is not worth it. Poor lighting (we had to request a lamp, without which it was impossible to read). Only one night table and no room for a 2nd on the other side of the king bed. No outlet near the bed so it was not possible to leave a glass of water, charge a phone, etc. Furnishings are old and tired. Breakfast is extra; at these rates it would be gracious to include it.

This was our second year staying in an ocean view bungalow. As soon as we entered the room, I remembered why I disliked the room during our previous stay. On the upside, the view is spectacular, the staff is very accommodating, and the location is superb. On the “needs improvement” list, for $1,000 a night, I would expect management to clean the badly stained rug, install WiFi extenders, and upgrade the mattress. The bathroom is painfully small, but I could manage it with some creativity. I spent a day at the pool located at The Clubhouse. It was lovely, but there were loud construction noises all day from a contiguous property. It’s a bit frustrating that management has not addressed the ocean view bungalow deficiencies which could be easily remedied.

I read a few negative reviews after we booked a King room for 2 days and a Suite for 3 days at the Clubhouse. I was very pleasantly surprised and happy with the clubhouse rooms. It is NOT a modern Hotel style room. If that is what you are looking for, check into a chain hotel. These rooms furnishings were in keeping with the style and period look of Cape Arundel Inn. They were clean and comfortable. The Club house was a very short drive or walk from the Main Inn. Our rooms were behind the clubhouse. It was lovely, peaceful and quiet set amongst the woods, in a residential neighborhood. We had full access to the Inn and Dining (spectacular views from the dining room). They offered wine and cheese every afternoon. You could relax on the porch, by the pool, pool table or by the fireplace. They did have Portable A/C units in everyroom and during the high heat of summer, maybe a problem as they are a bit noisy. We visited Mid-October and the weather was perfect. No a/c required. The staff was very freindly, helpful and accomodating. My only negative is that I would have felt a little safer if the front doors to clubhouse were locked to only guests and staff, since there is no-one on duty at night. We had a lovely stay! I would highly recommend Cape Arundel Inn to anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet and relaxing stay.

We booked three bungalow rooms with the ocean view for a small family reunion and all of us had the best time! The quaintness of the Inn made this a very special place for us! The Inn sits at a perfect location if you want to take long walks along Ocean Avenue and they also have towny bikes that are great to bike on the rolling roads in the neighborhood behind the Inn. Albert Black, the Chef Concierge, was extremely helpful in booking dinner reservations at the area’s best restaurants so everything was perfect for our stay. I highly recommend the Cape Arundel Inn & Resort and hope to return soon!
