My wife and I recently paid well above $1,000 for a night at the Diamond Suites, which is the separately branded top floor of the Hotel Keflavik. That's a lot of money, but we were wrapping up a special trip and wanted to end on a high note. The room looked nice, but nothing worked and the stay was a serious disappointment. First, the thermostat would not cool below 24.5 C (high 70s in Fahrenheit), so we had to open the window and deal with a lot of street noise. Second, and more importantly, the primary ceiling lighting which ran around the perimeter of the room would not turn off when we went to bed. We tried to ignore it but it was like trying to sleep in broad daylight. After 30 minutes or so, we tried to call downstairs but the phone didn't work. My wife went downstairs to reception in her bedclothes to seek help. A young man who said he was the manager came to the room and spent 10 minutes pushing all the same buttons we had been pushing, and he achieved the same result: the lights wouldn't go off. He did manage to turn the bright yellow lights into bright red lights and suggested we try sleeping with those on, as there were no other rooms he could move us to. When we said no, his suggestion was to trip the breaker so we would have no electricity in the room; since the phone didn't work, he said we could come downstairs in the morning and ask them to reset the breaker so we would again have electricity. That was obviously a non-starter for us. He then disappeared for 10-15 minutes and came back with a tool kit and after another 10 minutes or so managed to disable the malfunctioning light switch. He said they would make an adjustment to the room cost because of the troubles. When we saw him in the morning at checkout, the young man said they would comp us for our dinner in the hotel restaurant the night before. That was a nice gesture even if, as I believed, it was insufficient. We accepted without putting up a fight. Then my credit card bill arrived and they charged us for the dinner after all. It was a terrible experience on multiple levels, and it convinced us that this is a hotel to be avoided.

We loved it here. So did my kids. They were kind in honoring the airport shuttle but I get the feeling it’s not common. The room was wonderful and more than enough space. A great breakfast. The only thing was there were flies in our room because the windows were open. It didn’t bother us but other it might.

We visited in the summer, so it was light out all night. The shades worked well. Our room was very nice. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was delicious. I wish we had more time to stay. The hotel is much closer to the airport than it is to Reykjavik. This was not a problem since we had free parking for our rental car.

The room was beautifully appointed and very clean. We opted for the Sapphire suite with access to the hot tub. (side note- this is advertised as being private, but it is on a shared balcony with no dividers). We also chose to include breakfast and that was wonderful. There were many hot and cold food options and a good variety of beverages as well. Great offering especially when traveling with kids. You should absolutely visit the spa if you get a chance. It was the best way to end our trip. I was absolutely impressed by the kindness of the staff- Anna at the front desk and Robert with maintenance in particular. Anna did everything she could to assure we had a wonderful stay and Robert was incredibly kind and helpful. They really made the stay exceptional for us. I would ultimately return because of them. You can stay at a nice hotel anywhere, but the staff is what makes this place stand out. Thank you so much for that.

We stayed at the Diamond Suites for 3 nights, and it was the best. Breakfast is abundant, rooms are super clean and stylish, the staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located fairly close to the airport (8-minute drive) and only 10 minutes from the Blue Lagoon. Our family had an excellent time.

My now fiancée and I had a wonderful experience at the Diamond Suites! My fiancée proposed the week before we got there and I wanted to surprise him with a little something, so I emailed customer service and they upgraded our stay! It made our celebration even more special. The room was so clean and beautiful we will never forget it.
