Absolutely fantastic place Beautiful cean room This is a family run apartment and they are so friendly and lovely. Food at the restaurant is great. This is our first time here but definitely won't be the last. Stunning pool and garden area. Found my Happy place 💕.

Rena apartments is like a home from home. The team there (Aris, Dina, Rena and the lovely chef) can’t do enough for you. The rooms are basic but are clean, the bed was super comfortable the sea view was stunning! We spent 4 days by the pool drinking cold Mythos and relaxing! Then the other 3 enjoying some fantastic beaches, bars and restaurants in Gouves. We opted to have the Greek breakfast most days which was filling and tasty! You had cheese (feta and a mild cheese), tomatoes, cucumber, ham, eggs, olives and toast. It was consistently amazing and was served from 9-11am. There’s a fab little shop on the premises where you can get pretty much anything you need. I had some bad bites and I wouldn’t even bother taking bug spray from the uk next time - the stuff Dina recommended was much better! You can walk down into the centre of Gouves in about 15 minutes - there’s lots of fab little cafes, bars and shops. That being said, we ate at the hotel several times and the food was delicious (beware of the huge portions!) Needless to say, it was a hard place to leave and we will certainly be returning!!

Best holiday ever!!! Very nice people in the supermarket , restaurant and hotel. The food was very tasty. I will totaly come back with my whole friendgroup! If you visit Greece and you want a nice , calme location near the ocean go here! Thank you for everything Rena Appartements everything was perfect.

We love the owner and her son the general manager. Also we love the cook for his art and his calm behavior. And we love Dina the allways and everywhere Power-Seller ( Hello i am Dina. If your looking for a quiet and relaxing time Rena apartments are ideal. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Aris, Rena and Tina made our stay so enjoyable. I loved the pool area and the apartments are charming, traditional and clean. The shower is small but the bath towels were so soft. The on-site mini market is well stocked and very reasonable. It is about a 25 min walk to the centre and 15 mins to the beach. There is a main road to cross at the end of the road the pedestrian lights weren't working when we were there, but once across we loved the walk down to the centre and beach with several bars, shops and restaurants along the way. Wouldn't recommend walking back once dark we always got taxi back for around €8 to €10 which the bar or restaurant you're in will order for you. Everyone we met were so nice and friendly really felt like they wanted to add to you having a lovely time while in Crete.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. However to say basic is generous the rooms have no facilities - the shower is the size of a sink and ours had no wall bracket, there is no tv, no WiFi in the rooms and you truly are a good 15 minute walk from everywhere. The hotel opposite plays very loud music until around 11pm most nights so you have to be relaxed about that as it is inescapable. We opted to pay for breakfast. You get a coffee each and a juice. There isn’t a buffet just what they bring you which is two eggs, tomatoes cheese ham cucumber olives and feta cheese. Every day. We only realised on the last day that we could request scrambled eggs or omelette rather than runny fried eggs. Again - the staff are friendly and kind and the pool area is pretty with nice flowers but that’s probably all I can say. Our best day was when we left Gouves by bus and went into Heraklion itself which is incredible. Bus services are brilliant as well really good and easy to use and the bus stop is close by. Gouves itself is very limited. There is one really nice bar called Island bar the rest are very touristy and nothing special. People are friendly, the sea and beaches are beautiful but the hotel is poorly located and very very basic.

This is real honest to god Greek apartments at its best. The rooms are basic but cleaned every day, fresh towels etc. the whole place immaculately cleaned from 6am every single day by the family who work ridiculous hours to ensure their guests are happy. Nothing is too much trouble. They are the epitome of Greek family. Every single person we met go there every single year. You can’t get a better review than that. We will be back 💞

What can I say, such a warm welcoming from the staff as soon as I stepped out of the taxi, such a friendly staff, Dina and the others would make sure that your stay is a memorable one. Would definitely come back here!

We arrived home on 2 June covered in bed bug bites. Thought they were mosqueto until more kept coming and chemist told us the bites are bugs. Cases thrown away.... Feel totally dirty and discussed The whole place looked like it needed a good clean, room were old and dirty, bathroom shower didn't work properly. Pool was dirty covered in leaves. Really unhappy after a 2 year wait for a holiday. I was not expecting to be bringing back to my house dirty bugs.

A massive thank you to Rena, Dena, Aris and Mr Vangelis for making our first trip to Crete so special. The rooms were much bigger than we expected, with a full kitchen area, dining area and table, pool view balcony and a spacious bedroom. We arrived after hours due to a flight delay but nothing was too much trouble for Aris and Mr Vangelis, we were greeted with snacks and drinks on arrival. A special shout out to Mama Dena who looked after us during our whole trip. I came to Dena for help with some mosquito bites and she immediately put some cream onto them and directed me to the nearest pharmacy, she then continued to check on me and ask if I was feeling better. The same when I was a bit sunburned, she let me try different after sun and even helped apply it!! Dena cleaned our room every day and it was always spotless with clean sheets and towels. Rena apartments is a family run hotel which immediately gives such an authentic and warm feel to your stay. Aris was recommending some places to visit on our trip and even helped hire us a quad bike for the day and have it delivered to the hotel. We were originally booked for Club Lyda Hotel Just across the street but we were checked into a room at Rena. We really had the best of both worlds, we had full use of the all inclusive facilities at Lyda and also the pool bar at Rena which was just perfect. The pool was so quiet in comparison to the pools at Lyda, this was amazing for the days we just wanted to relax and have some drinks in the sun.

Most of the staff was very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is located near the bus station that was very convenient. .Also the beach 10 minutes walThe hotel has a market with everything you need .The pool is very nice You can cook in the room if you what.

The hotel has a super market, and restaurant the staff was nice and the food was good. also it's close to the bus station and it was very convenient. Also there was a easy way to get to the beach, 10 minutes walk. The room was completely comfortable with a small kitchen. And always clean.

A big thank you to Rena, Aris, Dena and Mr Vangelis for making our stay at this family run accommodation so enjoyable. We received the most friendly welcome from Rena when we arrived late evening, having walked up from the main road where the coach had dropped us with our luggage. Rena encouraged us to sit and relax and a glass of complimentary ouzo was given. Rena's son, Aris showed consideration by querying whether we would be ok with a third floor room and, as I'm an older lady, I said I preferred a room lower down. After some rushing around Aris showed us to a ground floor apartment, room 105 which was in a quiet area away from the road. Check in was very informal, no paperwork taken or passports copied. All very laid back and relaxed. We asked if we could possibly have something to eat and Mr Vangelis was only too happy to make chicken souvlaki for us which was a good sized portion and very tasty. Our apartment was huge, housing three single beds, a table and chairs, dressing table and kitchen area, with bathroom off the main room. Next morning Rena was outside very early washing/hosing everything down and cleaning. She did this every day and together with Dena and Aris, were always working in one way or another. Cleaning outside areas, helping serving food, working in the attached supermarket. On the go all the time and everywhere was very clean indeed. If you needed anything you had only to ask. Nothing was too much trouble and they were all very accommodating to our needs. Bins were emptied daily, fresh towels and sheets provided. Towels to be left outside your apartment if you want fresh ones. The Greek breakfast was plentiful and tasty too. Fruit juice, tea or coffee, toast with jam, two friend eggs, feta, tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, cheese and ham, always a good start to the day. It is all freshly prepared for you, not a buffet as is common in most accommodation. Omelettes were also available or any combination of eggs etc. We found the nearest restaurants were over a mile away which, after a day's exploring, was rather too far for me as I use a walking stick. Apart from two evenings, we ate at Rena Apartments, with Mr Vangelis preparing freshly cooked food for us. Delicious, nicely presented, good portion sizes and reasonably priced. This suited us very well indeed. I have food intolerances and Mr Vangelis was able to accommodate these. The vegetable risotto, chicken fillet, lamb chops and chicken souvlaki were all excellent, as was the fresh Gilt Head Bream he cooked for us one evening - he is an accomplished chef and very diligent in keeping his working area very clean. A big thank you to him for feeding us so well. Some reviews have mentioned holes in sheets and towels, things being outdated etc. Yes we noticed a few of these things but none detracted from all the positives at Rena Apartments or the overall enjoyment of our holiday. we booked accommodation at this place, after reading reviews on tripadvisor, there were a couple of bad reviews, and many good ones, so we were looking forward to going here. this is a family run hotel / apartments. we arrived at night and we were told where to go, to find our apartment. the standard is as you would expect, not luxury, but not too bad, just ok. when we got to the apartment, the floor was dirty, and there was sand all over the floor and on the sofa. the small bathroom had dead mosquitoes and insects all over the walls and it was just disgusting. the next day at 1pm we turn to the staff, here we spoke to the son, he said he would talk to the washing staff and sort this out. after this we went out, and did not come back until 11.30pm. We noticed that no one had been to the room and washed it (even though the website says that it is cleaned daily) We then contacted the staff again, this time a lady, who is the mother of the man we spoke to earlier. we explain the matter, and she says the cleaning lady finishes at 3 p.m., long story short, we try to explain to her what the room looks like, but she's not really interested in listening, and comes up with bad explanations that have nothing to do with, what we tell her, we also try to use google translate, but here she won't listen to us either, we then get a bit frustrated with the situation and feels like it's silly, she then gets rude, and probably a bit annoyed with us . she then says "women, shhh shh" "you talk, and talk and talk" while she uses body language with her hands and says "blah blah blah". in the end we just won't spend our holiday on this, and just want to buy water and leave, but she continues for about 1-2 min. Before vi can pay for the water. the whole thing was just very unpleasant, and incredibly bad customer service. the next day we call ********** and ask for help, we spend a few hours on this, but this is in high season, and many hotels are fully booked, so it is to be expected. - in the meantime, while we are talking on the phone, the cleaning lady comes, when we come back the floor has been washed, but nothing has been done in the bathroom. after a few hours ********** has helped us and found us a new hotel and now we can finally enjoy our holiday. extra info: these are apartments, so remember you must bring or buy all soaps, both for the bathroom/showergel and handsoap, and the kitchen, plus a sponge to wash it with. there is air conditioning there, which costs 5 euros per day if you want to use it. Transport- 5 minutes down the road, from the apartments, there is a bus stop, both to Malia, and on the o1ther side of the road to Iraklion (approx. 30-40 minutes by bus) we slept with earplugs, since the were a little noisy, especially from de apartment above, when they move furnitures.
