Diogenis Blue Palace the Gem of Crete, our 3rd year of visiting the island and staying at the family run hotel. We are made to feel welcome and the staff know “Cretian Hospitality”. From Costas the Hotel Manager, Illias the Head Chef, to Benni and Evan the Bar staff, everyone makes you feel welcomed, as if you’re guests at their home. We will be returning again, to the best Hotel on Crete.

So this is a very honest review!! 4 star hotel ?? Maybe not but.... what a lovely place!! We had a semi basment room as it was the cheapest option and its very basic but comfortable. Shower is tiny so if your on the larger side like me you may struggle. If I came again I would defo opt for the upgrade, people have good reviews of these. The hotel is extremely clean! Maids work endlessly to keep it that way. However what makes this place so special is the staff! Beni, Ivan and ilias. Cretans have a reputation of being the most friendly people and that's so very true here. This family work tirelessly to make sure you hoilday goes well. Food is lovely, yes not the hotist but lovely Cretan food! The potatoes are to die for! If you have kids there's not a great choice for a fussy eater though. If your a veggie your well catered for. Going to miss this place and the wonderful people I have met. I will be back!!

Great Hotel, everything thing you could possibly need. Staff are fantastic, can’t do enough for you. Would recommend you try the Raki, sets you up for a great night 😜. Food by Ella’s is the best, Benny for the beer and Iavn for the entertainment. Exceptional place will be back 100% next year.

Food is the fantastic, the Chef Ella's is one of the nicest people you can meet. The bar and waiting staff are very friendly and look after you well. The rooms are spacious and well presented and the Hotel staff are brilliant. Well worth the stay. I'll be back later in the season

This was my first time experiencing the opening of the season in a seaside destination. I chose the date of my stay in April, with the intention of relaxing, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and fresh sea air on the open beach. This stay fulfilled its purpose. Several hotels in the area were still closed and it was interesting to observe the final preparations for the opening of the main season. Friendly, always helpful staff, delicious food, pleasant stylish environment, balcony with a sea view were a bonus to the stay. I felt welcome here. I want to thank everyone, especially Lucia and Ilias.

We have all had a fantastic holiday here at Blue Palace, i would definitely come back. It is very welcoming and the staff couldn't do any more for u, nothing is too much trouble. The place is always cleaned and the pool is great for a dip and swim. The beach at the hotel is stunning, very clean and you can swim in the sea. The atmosphere is fantastic. Would recomend to anyone.

We have had a great week away at the Diogenis Palace and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Gouves. The hotel has good facilities & a sandy beach just across the road. Every day there is something different to eat for lunch or dinner so you’re not stuck without choice. A special thanks to Kostas, Lucy and all the staff who made us feel very welcome and we thank them for making our holiday a memorable one. We will be back again.

We went for a week end of April/ early May. Checkin friendly fast and carried cases to room. Room modern with lots of storage hanging and lots of drawers. Modern bathroom. Only thing missing was soap holders for shower and sink. Beds hard but got used to it. 2 pillows on each. Pool area plenty of sunbeds for when we were there at any time of day. Seating area near bar lots of seats. Inside ok for any rainy days. Pool itself was very cold but got slightly warmer as the week went on. Only gripe was steps are huge into Pool and no rail. Bar service was great as are all staff. Choice not huge but stated what was available on website before booking. Restaurant food choice very good and tasted very good. Only gripe was mostly luke warm. They need to keep warm in the trays. Entertainment was on 2 nights and same lady who was very good. Otherwise music through speakers. Every member of staff were great. All of them. Beach area ok. Sunbeds there old n some broken. Lots of seaweed but the actual sea was nice n no water shoes required. We were surprised how much we liked it aver all. Nice walk along front and to bars n restaurants. They treat you like family.

Thank you to all the hotel staff for a wonderful holiday in the week of 26.4. - 3.5. We would like to thank Mrs. Lucia from the reception, the head chef Illias and Ivan the barista:-). This was our first time in Crete and we will definitely be happy to come back. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here, our joint birthday.
