The Stepwell Hotel

It was a nightmare to stay at this property in Jodhpur. Our family holiday to Jodhpur was spoiled by the hotel. Bad unclean rooms with no maintenance, rude behaviour of staff & management. Advise not to stay at this hotel.

I went there because of the recommendation of my guidebook and a friend, who was there some years ago. The price is for India a little more advanced, but because of the good recommendations I tested this restaurant and was totally disappointed. In this price range I would expect something really delicious or really big plates. Neither was the case. The thalis and the rice dishe, which we ordered, had kid size and were not the most tasteful. We did our best using the spices available on the desk. Also the thali wasn't freshly cooked. Only kept warm in aluminum foil. Thereby I would recommend you to go to another restaurant. And have something more tasteful. Here the quality of earlier days can't be satisfied anymore. Because of this reason we continued our breakfast at another place to get sattisfied and enjoy better service and quality.

An attractive fusion of the traditional and the modern, a modern take on a traditional building. Charming and helpful staff - three in particular. We can rememember two names: managers Tarun Kumar and Ajaj.

Its an old haveli located in the fort, with easy access to the old city and cafes and restaurants. While the location is good, the comforts and luxuries are missing despite paying a heavy price during the Sacred Sufi Festival. The rooms are basic and spartan. There are no elevators and really high steps so if your legs give you trouble, avoid staying here. Breakfast at Stepwell's affiliated Raas hotel (a 3 minute walk away) was magnificent. Would I stay here again ? Heck no !

Stepwell House Jodhpur is located next to Toor ka Jhalra, which gives a pleasant experience with very nice view. Staff here is very courteous, best Hospitality. Breakfast served in stepwell cafe is best with variety and taste.

Architecturally speaking, its good from the outside. BUT the property was under construction when we reached there. It was dusty, messy, had workmen all over the first 2 floors. We were on the 4th floor which meant a long walk upstairs. The view from the room and the attitude of the staff made up for most of the issues. But had they extended us the courtesy of giving us a heads-up about the ongoing work, accessibility within the property and accessibility to the hotel itself it would have been appreciated. It was a single-handed attempt from my end to navigate and make the room more livable, to figure out how to reach there etc. There were some power cuts, and water related issues some of which could have been unforeseen, but some were definitely due to the on-going work. Jodhpur by itself is beautiful and messy. There is much to do and discover if we put aside our expectations for clean streets. But when the stay is also messy, a dusty hotel, small insects coming in, a poor bathroom, no tables, chairs, benches or a cupboard for any kind of luggage it was a bit too much, specially since it was my first time there.
