I had a very concerning experience at this hotel due to its use of facial recognition technology instead of traditional room key cards. While this system may seem convenient, it poses significant security risks and privacy issues. On the last day of my stay, the flaws in this system became apparent. A man was able to unlock my room and enter while I was freshening up, claiming that the front desk had registered his facial information for my room.
Although I had locked the door beforehand, he was still able to access my room. Upon investigation, I learned that a cleaning staff member had mistakenly reported my room as cleaned and vacated. This led the front desk to assume I had checked out and subsequently registered the man's facial information for my room. Both the front desk and the cleaning staff were at fault in this incident. However, only the staff member at the front desk apologized to me, while the cleaning staff—who was present—did not take responsibility for their mistake. This lack of accountability was disappointing.
This incident highlights the major flaws in the facial recognition system, especially concerning personal privacy and security. I strongly recommend travelers who are cautious about these issues avoid staying at this hotel.
