I wasn't sure what to expect when I stayed a night at Al Balad Inn earlier this week as a) there were no reviews of the property on Trip Advisor, and b) the cost, with taxes and breakfast, was only £47. I wanted to stay by the Corniche to have an evening at the Jeddah Waterfront but couldn't really afford the Hilton and its ilk. However, Al Balad Inn was a good choice. I had a room on a higher floor (as I had requested) and they had kindly upgraded me to a one bedroom apartment with kitchenette and complimentary tea & coffee. Hotel reception were welcoming, helpful and respectful and breakfast was very good.
