Portree Youth Hostel

The Hosteling Scotland Portree location is a solid fine. It’s basic, no frills but functional. And as with any other hostel, depends a lot on the roommates you get. I stayed in a four bed female dorm with en suite bath. The bath did not have a working fan so it was always humid inside the room, but the shower was big and water pressure was great. However, any amount of shelves in there would have been nice. Beds are fine, not awful but not great. But functional. WiFi works in the room well too which was nice. Lockers are fine too but the top bunks definitely get the better bigger ones. The kitchen is good but can get very busy so time yourself accordingly. My room had a nice view of the mountains too. This is also right across the street from the car park which was easy access and easy access to town. Is this an incredible hostel? No. Is it functional and basic? Yes. I had bad roommates one night and then good ones the other two. Roommates make a big difference. I would consider staying again.

I stayed only 1 evening during a tour at Skye. The best part of the hostel is its location and scenic setting. You get to see an amazing view from the lounge. The rooms are okay, clean. The bathroom is clean and has hot water. The upper bed I got did not have a charging point so I had to stay down at times to charge my phone - a bit inconvenient but not too much. Free tea / coffee is available. I booked a breakfast which was reasonable. Overall recommended if you are on budget and staying for 1/2 days

I had booked here for one night on a Sunday after being on Skye for a week. This was the second to last location on Skye after a wonderful trip. I had already stayed at the Portree Independent Hostel during Skye Live. I had booked on a day tour so setting off early from the square. I was allowed to drop my rucksack off, and it was stored in a locked room, so that was good. Unfortunately I returned in the evening a few hours after check in, so missed getting a lower bunk in a female four persons room. A convenient shower and toilet though in the room. I wanted a quiet relaxing evening but the common room was so noisy with groups of travellers all enjoying themselves. I do understand, this is Portree!! I was too old for the young foreign travellers, and too young for the massive group of male walkers, so nobody spoke to me!! Difficult night as not experienced top bunks before and had to go to toilet during the night. Hurt my achilles heal getting down the narrow small ladder unfortunately, having had a bad ankle fracture. In hindsight if stay again will make sure get there dead on check in time!! Kitchen and communal showers all good, pleasant common room, very modern. Beautiful views

First time sleeping in a youth hostel and it was better than expected. The pillows were really good probably some of the best I have slept on. Bunk beds not for me or my teenage daughter. Room was clean staff friendly. We never used the kitchen. Reception wasn’t very well sign posted from the car park site but that was fine we found our way. Car park was just across the road. Walls thin but we weren’t really disturbed.

L’emplacement est central et parking gratuit devant. La vue de la salle commune est magnifique. Dortoir de 4 surchauffé avec petite salle de bains privative. Petit dej hors de prix pour la prestation (7£/pers). Mieux vaut acheter au supermarché du coin de quoi manger à cuisiner dans la cuisine commune.

Pas d'eau chaude pas de limière dans ma chambre une ampoule sur 3 qui fonctionne et un simple désolé sans dédomagement mais surtout une très forte odeur d'humidité dans la salle de bain. c'est à FUIRE DE TOUTE URGENCE
