This is my second review for the Overwater Hall, my first being in August 2004. It was great then, and it remains so now. The Lake District is a national treasure, and this is a jewel within it. The food is fantastic, as good as any Michelin meal we've ever eaten - and better than most. I understand that (co-owner) Adrian leads in the kitchen, and he's really mastered his craft. Between my wife and I we sampled almost every dish over 4 days, and every one was delicious and faultless. Presentation is very high standard, and the ingredients are allowed to shine, without the excess of salt that is so common. The hotel's atmosphere is peaceful, slickly professional and relaxing, particularly after the long walks and climbing we did every day. Co-owners Angela and Stephen lead front of house, with what we experienced to be a friendly and efficient team supporting them. We thoroughly recommend Overwater Hall for a relaxing, "out of the way' break. We did their 4 day DB&B break, which for what you get for that, we thought very good value.

We visited Overwater Hall for a two night stay with some friends from Essex. What a beautiful place! We were warmly greeted by Stephen, Angela and Adrian. The food is absolutely out of this world! Our new favourite place in the lakes! Superb location, very friendly welcome and lovely room! Lots of walks available directly from the hotel, no need to travel. Food was stunning. 3 course dinner served with minimal fuss, but absolutely stunning food. The best meal we have had for a long time! Well done Adrian and your team!!

An amazing dinner in fabulous surroundings, really made it feel a special night out in preparation for Christmas. As u can see from the photographs exceptional plates of food at every course. A substantial choice and outstanding flavours and textures to excite the tastebuds. The hospitality and service is perfection personified. Do not miss any opportunity you have to visit this very special place.

The setting is almost magical with its understated charm. The lounge and dining room both offer a lovely atmosphere. The service is slick but appears effortless and the menus are simply stunning and local produce is prioritised. They also do a fabulous Negroni. It is an absolute gem.

The food at this Hotel is one of the best we have ever known in the Lakes, presentation fantastic the fillet steak and the lobster were amazing. The hotel staff and the owners extremely friendly and welcoming. Wifi very weak but not a problem once you get used to it. Would definately recommend and will definately make a return visit.

Just returned from 3 relaxing nights at Overwater Hall. The service is excellent with very attentive staff. The evening meal is the highlight of the day , food was fantastic. A hidden gem in the Northern Lakes where you are made to feel very welcome. Looking forward to returning later in the year

Beautifully presented food cooked to perfection. Honestly the nicest 3 courses we’ve had for a long time and huge value for money. I had the Quail starter, Scallops main & Frangipane dessert - all amazing! Lovely, welcoming staff too - will definitely be back!

For those familiar with middle earth..Overwater Hall is " The Last Homely House" (in the West)...Rivendell . Lady Angela, and Lords Adrian and Stephen are a unique blend of long standing magic and spirit. Together they have created a haven ...(not the grey one!).. but an incredible experience. We class ourselves as their friends and allies and urge any mortal to visit their domain.. it is truly unique. Maybe overdone the Tolkien, but we are constantly thrilled and amazed at what they do for us. Totally the best hotel in the lakes... everyone.................... ( elf/dwarf/men) please go and see for yourself! Foot note - for non PC references.. please take in the spirit that it is meant .Rob and Judith Scott ❤️
