I was booked into this place by a tour I was on. Downstairs (the bar) looks pretty cool and chill. But the hotel upstairs is quite run down. The stripping was peeling off the walls, and you can hear the loud music playing downstairs. Luckily the music stopped by10pm which was good. There was no working heat during my stay, and the hot water in the shower ran out in 2 minutes (this one was the biggest issue). The nearby train tracks also caused a lot of vibration through the building, although I get they can not help that one. It was just not a place for people who want sleep, more for the bar goer.

When we arrived in the lobby there was not an attendant there. She was working the bar and desk so we had to wait. After checking in, we proceeded to our room. It was very disappointing. The room was hot and there is no heat or air. We tried to open the window but it wouldn’t open. I went back down to the desk and the lady suggested opening the window!! She sent a person to open the window but now it wouldn’t close. The bathroom room is also horrible. The ceiling is sagging with pieces flaking off and mold. I asked for a different room but was told No!

I was booked into the Chieftain Hotel along with a number of colleagues. My room had seen better days with regard to the decor with a few rips in the wallpaper, however the (twin) room and bathroom were good sized and clean. The bed was comfy and I slept well. The cooked breakfast was good and plentiful with other options available. The adjoining sports bar was busy. Staff were polite and helpful. I didn't use the free Wi-Fi or restaurant. Maybe not my first choice to stay in Inverness, but I'd be happy enough to return.

A very homely Highland hotel, with friendly efficient local staff. Home cooked menu, reasonably priced, with very generous portions. Excellent breakfast, a true reflection of Highland hospitality! We will definitely come back again!

We were met and booked in by Liz in a very welcoming and friendly manner. Our room was immaculately clean and very spacious. Lovely evening meal and a plentiful breakfast each morning. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful with my wife's dietary requirements. Nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. They even provided a gift bag for our dog, and chef Hamish even provided a breakfast sausage for him on our last day. Gillian was brilliant at our last breakfast, extremely and naturally attentative. We had a lovely relaxing stay. Good room, good comfy bed, good food, excellent staff, car park as well. What more to ask! Well done to Liz and her team. We will be back. 👍👏🙂🌟

Stayed here twice. Very helpful staff; they even allowed us leave our car on their car park for the week while we travelled. Bedrooms leave a lot to be desired - i.e. during our second stay, the room smelt of damp laminate floor, the sash window did not stay open, the blind did not work, and the shower reach was very poor. Dinner and breakfast were plentiful and satisfactory. We would not stay here again by choice.

Located on a main road round the corner from Arnold Clark car hire was the main reason for choosing the Chieftain to start our road trip. The reviews are accurate in most respects, it's halfway to being a pub with accommodation rather than a hotel. Just felt a bit understaffed and in need of a spruce up downstairs but room was clean and well equipped. Free parking on site and an easy flat walk into the city centre.

The meals where fantastic, fresh ,delicious,plentiful and always served with a smile. Beautiful hotel , decor make you feel relaxed in Scottish warmth, the staff are very polite & helpful. Highly recommend a stay & enjoy a meal when you visit Inverness Scotland
