Situated directly off the Blue Ridge Parkway and less than one minute to all that Little Switzerland has to offer including: shopping, dining, (seasonal dates are April-October), and hiking to Grassy Creek Falls. Up to four guests enjoy a private entrance, own deck, kitchenette (range/oven, sink, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster), living area, queen-sized bed, pull-out couch, full bath, washer/dryer, flat screen smart tv, and wifi.The space: Guests will have over 600 square feet of living space and their own deck.Other things to note: Little Switzerland shops and dining are closed during the winter months of November-March, but the Blue Ridge Parkway remains open as long as there is no snow or ice. There are several nice towns nearby such as Marion, Spruce Pine, Bakersville, and Burnesville that have shops and dining year round. In the winter months be prepared for snow/ and or ice covered roads including our driveway. We cannot guarantee that the driveway will be cleared due to unpredictable weather and the lack of snow removal equipment. If there is a chance of snow/ ice, you will be required: to either drive a 4WD vehicle, have snow chains, or park below and walk up our steep 200 meter paved driveway. Adventures Close at Hand Linville Caverns is located 5 miles north on US Highway 221. Less than 10 miles to the north, via the Blue Ridge Parkway, is the access to Linville Falls and the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. Within a 60 to 90 minute drive on US 221 North are the charming and quaint towns of Valle Cruces, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock, in addition to Boone. Along the way you may want to check out Grandfather Mountain State Park and its famous swinging bridge. If you enjoy a college-town vibe, Appalachian State University is in Boone. If traveling via the Blue Ridge Parkway, there are numerous trailheads for hiking along this route, as well as Overlooks that provide expansive vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The engineering marvel that is Linn Cove Viaduct is also along this route. Bathrooms and showers are fully stocked with towels, washcloths, tissue paper, kleenex, shampoo, body wash, etc. The deck is huge. The fire pits are wonderful. The views are breath taking.The 8 person Bullfrog hot tub is relaxing with a waterfall, lights, and music. Awesome pool table. There are games for kids, WiFi, Samsung TV with fire stick. TVs and GAMES: Three smart TVs and a Roku TV in the bunk room in case you want to watch a movie or need a rainy day alternative. We have a lot of board games and fun outdoor games like giant connect 4, corn hole, a disc golf basket (to practice your putting) along with pickleball racket and balls if you want to jump down to the court you passed on your drive in. (this is currently being rebuilt after Helene).Wildlife Watching: Keep an eye out for local woodland creatures, including foxes, deer, squirrels, and yes black bears. They are around so just don’t leave out your Cheetos and make noise on your walks if walking in the am. We are a Bear Wise community.
