Mid-June the swim raft goes in the water and is anchored 200' off shore.4 adult sit on top kayaks, 2 kids kayaks, to get ready for lake fun. There are a few lifejackets, but you may want to bring your own, wearing lifejackets is recommended for all water activities (especially for children). Beach towels are provided!Lakefront living is wonderful and comes with all that nature provides - even bugs - come prepared to enjoy the outdoors. Plans can change, travel insurance is recommended.Elk Rapids is only 1.5 miles southwest of the house, great restaurants, shops, a grocery store, and a marina for your visit. Our house sits on three lots and has a beautiful backyard under the shade of a giant weeping willow tree. Perfect for naps, sports with the kids, grilling out, and bonfires in the evening. We have 3 kayaks with paddles available for use. Lots of quiet places to sit and relax for adults. The large lots allows plenty of space for parking and trailers with boats etc. We offer free WI-FI and the house has multiple smart TVs with apps for Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu etc.The house includes a fully stocked pantry, a chef's kitchen worth of cooking supplies and equipment, as well as brand new stainless appliances. Centrally located in the Village, guests are a block away from the Bass Lake public access, and two blocks away from Elk Lake access- perfect for walks, kayaking, and picnics. The house is walking distance to downtown, the dam for fishing, and just about every dining option in the city. Additionally, we are close to golf, the Elk Lake marina for boats, hiking, biking, kayaking, and a quick drive to Traverse City. Day trips will get you to Sleeping Bear Dunes, a Lookouts game, Mackinac Island, Turtle Creek Casino, skiing, and so many more great attractions that northern Michigan has to offer. Sitting less than 30-feet from the sandy bottom of Bass Lake, this house is a charmer in all seasons. In the winter months, enjoy snowshoeing across the lake and come home to a cozy fire. In the warmer months, this all-sports lake is ready for swimming, fishing, and all things fresh-water. The sandy-bottom lake is quiet, with most people choosing to bring their boats and water sports to Elk Lake, which is less than a mile to the east of Bass. However, if you'd like to access Bass Lake by boat, the boat ramp and park are directly beside our home!Elk Lake is another beautiful option for spending your day on if you'd like a larger, deeper body of water. Rent a boat from Elk River Marina and cruise the deep, Caribbean blue waters. Elk Lake has a depth of 192 ft, making it the second deepest lake in Michigan, second only to Torch Lake which lies directly to its east. To the west of Little Elk Cottage lies the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay, which is a bay of Lake Michigan. Travel less than a mile into the town of Elk Rapids to find access to the bay and sit down for a picnic at Veterans' Memorial Park after you've picked up lunch at Cellar 152.
