Loved this beautiful historic homestay. Clean and neat and beautifully decorated. Welcoming host who spoke great English and comforting breakfast. the second bed was a bit hard for our family that is not used to hard beds, but the other main bed was fine. the water pressure in the shower was fantastic. the location is ideal for exploring the old street

When traveling to Anhui for the first time, I did not choose the more famous Hongcun, but Chengkan, which has a niche reputation. The proprietress of this B&B is very enthusiastic, arranges pick-up and drop-off for guests, and is very patient no matter how late the guests arrive. The breakfast was hearty and delicious, and was given as a small gift when checking out. Beautiful Chengkan has mountains and rivers. Although there are no mountains or lakes, a quick walk in the ancient villages can calm your impetuous mind. If you are tired of the fast pace of big cities, why not stay here for a while and listen to the chirping of crickets and frogs at night... If you have been to Chengkan, you will never have troubles in your life.

The hotel is very good in terms of environment and service. The first time the housekeeper came to pick us up and opened the wooden door, the view of Yongxing Lake was really amazing. The food in the hotel's restaurant and dessert shop is delicious. It is worth going again in the lotus blooming season.

We couldn't book a family room, but the landlady upgraded us to a ”big” room. Thank you very much! The location of the B&B is very good, close to a stream, making it convenient for children to play in the water. The flowers, plants, fish and birds in the courtyard and the interior decoration all reveal the owner's love for life. The guest rooms are warm and the breakfast is rich. The host family and aunt are very nice. Staying here makes you feel at home. We stayed an extra night for this reason. The most important point is that unlike some businesses that are good at inducing good reviews, the inn only focuses on attentive service. In the current environment, it is a breath of fresh air, as pure as the lotus in front of the door. Usually I hardly comment on businesses, but good wine is so mellow and delicious that it shouldn’t be hidden in alleys. I hope more people can taste its deliciousness. Xixinan is the last stop of our Huangshan trip. When we left, the landlady personally drove us to Huangshan North Station. Thank you again. Goodbye, Huangshan! Goodbye, Xijing Inn!

Really nice person keeping the place. The room is big and clean. Upstairs is warm but downstairs a little bit cold during winter time but it is not really a problem. The view from the room on the lake is amazing. The village is very quiet and less touristy than other place like Hongcun. The breakfast is made from fresh veggies and is tasty. We really appreciate the place. They also serve very good coffee.

The store didn't let me help with the evaluation. After struggling for a long time, I decided to give a good review - because I think it's really good. I'm afraid that too many people will book it if the evaluation is too good, and the price will increase or it will not be booked next time. Hahahahaha~ I stayed for 12 hours and wanted to take 120 photos. It's a very small and beautiful hotel. The garden design is beautiful, the interior design is convenient, and the key is that the price-performance ratio is really high. And it breaks my perception of homestays. I always think that the management of homestays may have some problems and the hygiene may not be in place, but this one is really super clean. It's the only homestay where you can take a bath with confidence. All service staff are very good. They have basic confirmation of the itinerary pick-up station and will help coordinate the arrangements for guests. The toiletries are also very easy to use. After taking a bath, you can go directly to the public bathroom. Although it is also small, the toiletries are complete. In short, the design is full of humanistic care everywhere. The overall feeling is comparable to that of a high-end hotel. The tea sent is also very fragrant. Before leaving, a small bag of tea was sent as a souvenir.
The only drawback is not the hotel but the scenic spot. Although Xixinan has become popular online and commercially bustling, the overall hotel and shopping facilities are not yet very complete (mainly reflected in the fact that when I was taking a bath too comfortably and wanted to order a milk tea, I found that there was no takeout from the chain milk tea shops around, hahahahahaha)

I particularly like this kind of homestay with a sense of design, which gives me a very satisfying experience. The public area is very large, and the boss must be rich, hahaha. In this alley of Huizhou, the homestay with a plain appearance but overflowing with Zen style inside makes people feel peaceful, comfortable and serene. It is recommended to have more varieties of breakfast, such as adding some beef or miscellaneous sauce to the side dishes of noodles. The wooden comb in the room can be kept as a souvenir, and a souvenir was given when leaving, which has a full emotional value.

The homestay is very good, beyond imagination. I didn't come to Chengxi Xinan last year. This year, the flood was afraid that the water in the river was too mixed. The two babies specially chose a homestay with a swimming pool. The 8*25-meter swimming pool and a small swimming pool were great for the children. They could soak in it for a day. The homestay also has its own restaurant. Outside the restaurant is farmland. The big geese and ducks raised by the homestay are too red. They are not willing to go when they are quacked by the river. At night, I set off fireworks in the yard, put river lights, and made fish lights with other guests. This fish lamp is too complicated to do the heart of the old mother haha. The local activity atmosphere is very good. The atmosphere of the homestay is also very good. The room is about 10 kilometers away from Huangshan Scenic Area and 15 kilometers away from Hongcun, suitable for self-driving tours. The room is generally good, cleaner than the farmhouse and the facilities are good. The parking lot is large and the scenery outside the hotel is good. It is also relatively quiet, with running water and birdsong, and the mountain residence experience is sufficient. The front desk was enthusiastic and said that there was usually a Huangshan pick-up service, but there was no pick-up during the long holiday. It was my first time to challenge Huangshan. I was attracted by the praise in the comment area when I was looking for a room a month ago. I chose this B&B. It was really a surprise! The room is clean and tidy. The round bathtub is large enough. The boss also thoughtfully prepared a disposable bath bag. After a long day of walking down the mountain from Huangshan, it is very comfortable to take a bath. It is very suitable to follow the second brother's route. The two bosses also prepared it carefully. We were given hiking poles, which were very practical. We had a panoramic view of Mount Huangshan from the back mountain to the front mountain and down the mountain! The two owners of the B&B were very attentive and considerate. The eldest brother takes care of the flowers and plants, and the second brother handles the cooking. The private dishes are delicious and reasonably priced, even cheap. It doesn't feel like it's for profit, it's just like entertaining friends. The smelly mandarin fish, fried meat, and stir-fried vegetables are all delicious. My second brother said that around May, the most beautiful scenery is in the Wizard of Oz. I will definitely bring my parents to play if I have the chance~

GGregMII chose the 0517 hotel after reading great reviews, and they were not wrong! Starting with the simple things, the location is so convenient being in the part of town nearest the park’s south entrance. You can walk there in ~15 minutes, passing several options for a street food breakfast along the way. There is also a good selection of restaurants for dinner, and a very nice bakery to pick up snacks for the day. The long distance buses arrive at a bus station a few km away, but the hotel will arrange the pickup for you, free of charge.
The hotel’s design in the rooms and shared spaces is very modern & clean, in a style appreciated by westerners. The rooms are on the small side, but have everything you need.
Leaving the best point until last – the highlight here is the customer service provided by the owner Timo and his staff. 11/10! Nothing is too much trouble, they will help you with everything from trip planning, to organizing local shared taxi to surrounding areas, to storing luggage, or whatever. On both the nights there, I had a long, friendly chat with him and a couple of others over a drink in the evening. Felt more like being his personal guest than being in a hotel. HIGHLY recommended!

GGuest UserOur stay here was wonderful! The owner was incredible and was very kind and helpful with any request that we had. He helped arrange a car the day we decided to visit the surrounding ancient towns, and offered to help us with transportation back to the train station when we left. The location is really convenient and easy to find. It’s a short walk to the old street and there is a lot of variety for restaurants and shopping around. There’s a beautiful park around the corner that has wonder walking paths where you can relax in nature. Our room was fantastic! We booked the SMART room with a king bed. The owner has put a lot of intentional thought about the small details that would make a stay pleasant and enjoyable. I loved the natural light the main room offered from the large window. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was so warm we didn’t even need to put the heat on. Wifi was excellent…. The bathroom / shower was great- really hot water, good water pressure, heat lamps, hair dryer…. He even provided different slippers for inside the bathroom vs the rest of the room. I will definitely stay here again for our next visit!

XXuelangyiAs an authentic Huizhou native who left home when I was young, I came to Hongcun and met Zhang Gongguan for the first time, but I was amazed by the whole ink painting Qingming. After walking through the streets and alleys, I finally found the low-key house number. I opened a small door and opened a paradise. The antique Ming and Qing Dynasty old houses, restored in the Hui-style style, and simple and elegant furniture make people feel like they have traveled through time and space and returned to the prosperous ancient Huizhou of the past. In the front hall and back yard, the centuries-old mottled walls are paired with the black and white colors of Qingming rain, but it also has a sense of vicissitudes like ”in the old days, when kings went to the hall and swallows flew into the homes of ordinary people”, it was as if they were in a Chinese ink painting. This is an old house with a history of 300 years. It is located in the core scenic area of Hongcun. It only takes 3 minutes to walk to Moon Marsh. There are many types of guest rooms with different styles. Almost all of them feature Chinese retro style. The carved wooden beds, wooden couches and dressing tables are all antique designs. The calligraphy, paintings and porcelain in the room highlight the famous Hui school. The door is an antique wooden door latch. key. The facilities in the bathroom are absolutely high-end. Dyson hair dryers and Hermès bath products are both rich in history and considerate. The owner lives with his guests and has four cats, several courtyards, and a beautiful swimming pool. The guests can drink tea and relax while leaning on the garden view. The butler's service was extremely attentive. He asked about the soundproofing at night, prepared a heart-warming breakfast in the morning, took our luggage all the way from the parking lot to the CI, dragged our luggage up the narrow stairs of the old house, and used a small electric donkey to carry our luggage again before we left. Return to the parking lot. I want to say here that the wooden stairs in the old Hui-style houses are narrow and shaky, and the sound insulation between the rooms is not very good. If you come to immerse yourself in the old house life, don’t complain and pay more attention to yourself. In short, this place really made my impression of Hongcun become more beautiful and full of nostalgia. It is undoubtedly the best private hotel in the village, and it feels like a dream that I will never wake up from.

GGuest UserMy family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise.
The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days.
At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us.
Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

GGuest UserMy stay in Tingquan Xiaoyuan has been absolutely delightful.
I booked a long stay here as a retreat and break from the work and it is exactly everything I need to unwind and recharge.
The guesthouse ran by a husband and wife team are so hospitable and go the extra mile to make sure my stay here is relaxing and I have everything I need to work and go about my day.
The room i am staying in is very brightly lighted with a desk for me to work. I have to say the bed is also very comfortable and I have been sleeping well every night.
The surrounding is so peaceful and tranquil, with gardens and flowers and mountain peaks in the distance. I am rather glad I am staying here in the valley instead of near the centre.
In terms of service, the boss is very helpful and responsive to my messages when we need to ask any question or require a pick up after the hikes. The lady boss is similarly extremely friendly, warm and kind and ensure my needs and well being is looked after every day. She cared for me like her own family.
I really appreciate them going the extra mile to help a foreigner like me who struggle with the language.
I would strongly recommend this lovely and cosy guesthouse to any local and foreigner who is looking for an amazing visit to Huangshan for a few days or up to a month. They will ensure you are well taken care of and your stay is absolutely delightful.

GGuest UserWe had a lovely stay at Pig’s Inn - it was sadly just for one night but we really enjoyed it! The staff were very kind and went to a lot of effort to cook for us, even though we were the only guests. Breakfast was especially great. The hot water was not really ‘hot hot’ - just tepid, but the staff did everything they could to fix it. The drains from the bathroom smelt pretty bad - but otherwise the bedroom was really comfortable and everything was very clean. The hotel organised a taxi for 200 Y from Huangshan North Railway, which was great. We then used Didi to order taxis and get to Xidi village and Huangshan mountain, which is great if you don’t speak the language. Thank you for having us!

Many good restaurants and stores nearby, the room was clean, the primary needs were met and location was good for walking to the bus station that goes to the cable car station on the mountain. The hotel's owner was very friendly, very welcome to help and recommended us the walking route of the mountain. He also lended us a tracking poll and we can leave a luggage at the hotel. A recommend place to stay!

It’s family owned hotel so everything is very authentic. The hosts are very kind and welcoming, helped us a lot with planning and organising the route for our hikes and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
