A Pub That Doesn’t Want Your Custom Unless You’re Eating After a three-hour trek on the Ingleton Waterfall Walk, five of us—locals who enjoy supporting village pubs—headed to the Marton Arms for a well-earned pint. Instead of a warm welcome, we were told we couldn’t sit at an empty table unless ordering food. We were ushered to a high table with just three stools—so two of us stood the entire time—despite being surrounded by vacant tables. Service was slow, but worse was the attitude: we felt like a nuisance for wanting to buy drinks without a meal. Ironically, had they shown even a hint of hospitality, we’d likely have stayed for food. Instead, we rang around and found the Barbon Inn, where they gave us seats, smiles, and a great meal. If you’re looking for a pub that values hospitality over squeezing in another food cover, skip the Marton Arms. It’s a real shame—especially as locals—to be made to feel unwelcome, and they’ve lost our future business for both food and drinks.

we descended upon The Martin Arms today with a group 20+ so we had to book ahead.The food was delicious although a limited menu because of our number but that worked for us as there was little delay on service.Im sorry i only got the fish and chips which was lovely but the pork and mash looked delicious and also the meat pudding, and the sticky toffee pudding probably the best iv ever tasted at this standard. The staff were very good and looked happy in their work. All in all a very pleasant evening with delicious food and well worth the visit.Thank you to all the staff

Beautiful food, great service and beautiful landlady, definitely recommend and return here! The setting where this place is located is stunning and fortunately I was only a 10 minute walk away, the weather wasn’t the best but hey every season has it’s beauty and what I liked even more was I could get here for a day out!😁😁
