Pros: * remarkable views * great location to explore tea plantations * decent food * good WiFi * pleasant staff * very comfortable rooms Cons: * we could have done with a guided tour of the site to find our bearings. This hotel was close to 5* and there’s nothing especially wrong with it but we have already been in hotels with better service and restaurants. Don’t let that put you off if you need to be near Udumbanchola as our preferred hotels are some distance away.

I concur many other reviews, this hotel offers a slice of paradise. At the top of the mountain, you have a magical view of the surroundings. The small infinity pool is definitely recommended and if you have time, just relax and enjoy the view. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast, the food was good. I definitely recommend!

My colleague and I recently enjoyed a 2-night stay at Spice Tree Munnar. Needless to say, the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The team that runs this property is truly world class and anticipates your needs before you know that you have them. The rooms are spacious and feature stunning views, many of them with their own private plunge pools as well. The food and beverage program is outstanding with a wide variety of local and Western options to choose from. Every morning we enjoyed al fresco dining on their patio which overlooks the pool area. Their Ayurvedic spa offers numerous treatment options at very reasonable prices in a gorgeous setting. This stay has been the highlight of our trip and we already can’t wait to return again in the future. Thank you again for the amazing experience and your warm hospitality!

The most wonderful place, especially after the madness of Mumbai. So tranquil. We did wonderful hikes with a lovely guide. Tea tasting, massages and a cookery demonstration. Nothing was too much. They also made a real fuss of us all on our 30th wedding anniversary. A cake and a beautifully decorated table. Wonderful staff - highly recommend

We stayed here for 3 nights at this beautiful, stunning resort. The resort is a hidden gem set against mountains and nature, and you do feel one with nature. Our villa with a pool was ideally located amongst natural beauty and surroundings, which you could never get tired of watching. The sunset was beautiful here, a backdrop to the mountains, and the sound of exotic birds made you greatful to be at one with nature. All staff were outstanding but would like to mention Suraj, who always ensured we were well looked after Dinner was pleasant in a beautiful location to marvel on. The location is remote, but the hotel has enough activities to enjoy. We had a lovely stay here.

This hotel is one of the best hotels in Munnar. We have stayed here three times now, the first time in the honeymoon suite with our own private pool overlooking the valley. We have to thank three people in particular, but without exception, all the staff are so welcoming. General manager Dhaneesh, and waiters Suraj and Ratheesh. The hotel is very relaxing and very quiet. The restaurant serves wonderful Indian cuisine and there is a variety of different dishes to suit all tastes. All rooms are well appointed and provide stunning views over the Bisson valley. The spa provides excellent massages.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Our room was spacious and had great views. The restaurant food was delicious, both the included breakfast and the à la carte dinner. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help us celebrate my husband’s birthday with a surprise cake, baked in their own bakery.

Fabulous ‘home from home’ with beautiful, modern rooms and a spa. Home- grown or local produce used to produce every meal. Only 9 rooms in total, we think. Superbly furnished with massive bathrooms. The gardens and environs are very relaxing. No tv. Relaxation comes easy here!

A nature paradise about half an hour drive from Munnar town. We had a huge room which had stunning views of Bison Valley. The hotel is remote so they offer a lot of free activities within the price of the stay which is great. These include tea tasting at the on-site bakery, walks, spa treatment, cooking demonstration and yoga. We did most of these and all were well worth doing. We’d especially recommend the cooking demonstration as we got to eat it all afterwards (!) and the walk as Joss was a great guide and very charming. All the staff are lovely and friendly. The food really is incredible, especially the seafood and the Bison Valley pepper chicken. Ok the pool table was off centre and the gym equipment is clearly an afterthought but you’re not here for that. Enjoy the views and relax.
