Hotel Drangshlid by Ourhotels

We stayed here with Troll Expeditions. The hotel is in a very rural area, great for seeing the Northern Lights. It has a 3-star rating and is a nice facility. Our room was large with two single beds and a bunk bed. The bed was comfortable. There was above average wifi. There is radiator heat. There was no TV or safe in the room. The shower was an open shower so the entire bathroom floor gets wet. The included breakfast buffet was average with cereal, meat, cheese, bread, overcooked pancakes, juice, tea and coffee. We drove to a nearby restaurant for dinner since there was no restaurant at the hotel.

My husband and I, along with our adult son, stayed one night in this hotel on an organized tour. After a very long day of travel, I was so disappointed when we walked into this hotel. It is VERY basic. Like just a bed and tiny bathroom. No TV. Cinderblock walls. You can hear everything going on in the rooms next to you. Not what I look forward to on a vacation. And for any of you that are considering packing a hairdryer - this hotel has one. One. As in, one hairdryer for the ENTIRE hotel. Fortunately, there weren't a lot of women in our tour group so I was able to get my hands on it for a few minutes, but if it were busy the odds would not have been good. That being said, the hotel was clean, the water pressure was decent and the beds/pillows were comfortable. Not luxurious by any means, but we got a good sleep in a clean room so I guess that's all that really matters. The breakfast was decent and the location is good for viewing the Northern Lights. Decent place for one night.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Owner is under investigation for union busting. Not only here but at other businesses. Really bad person, manipulating foreign labor and threatening employees if they join a trade association. Really giving Icelanders a bad name.
