If every hotel were like Anhill, the world would be a better place. From the second we walked through the front doors, the staff was genuine, friendly, and welcoming. Joy, the service professional that greeted us on the first day, informed us that their annual staff New Year’s party would be happening that night and eagerly invited us to come. Though we were unsure whether we would be imposing, she was enthusiastic about the prospect of our attendance and assured us that our participation was wanted. We agreed that we would come and were promptly shown to our stunning room which featured a balcony overlooking the beautiful garden and koi pond at the front of the property and a in-room freestanding tub with bath salts and a loofah. While at Anhill, we utilized the laundry service which was very affordable and borrowed bicycles to explore some of the routes the hotel has already mapped out for guests, both of which were great amenities that made our stay that much more special. Now to the staff party which I’m sure you’re all waiting to hear about. Not only were we invited but we were treated like special guests, sitting right in front of the stage. The night was full of delicious food and hilarious performances and to have been included was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Vietnam. Special shoutout to Ms. Linh, the guest experience manager, who helped us translate throughout the festive evening and who took it upon herself to make sure I didn’t consume anything I was allergic to. Other details worth noting: •The restaurant has some of the best food I had while traveling through Vietnam. The local dishes (the river clams, snails, and duck blood pudding) were all extremely flavorful and beautifully presented. They also make a four cheese pizza that rivals any I’ve ever had elsewhere and fresh croissants for breakfast that will make your head spin! •The ambiance of the spa is very nice and the treatment plans are very affordable. They also have happy hour discounts in the mornings and early afternoons. •If you wake up early enough, you can feed the koi fish in the pond. They are arguably the largest koi I’ve ever seen and the experience was quite unique. •Another early morning activity is the traditional Vietnamese coffee making where they will show you how to make your own cup of coffee from scratch. This property has a keen eye for detail but the most crucial detail they have gotten right is their ability to create an atmosphere that feels like home 8,000 miles away. To quote Maya Angelou, “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Anhill made us feel like part of the family and for that we are forever grateful.
