Big Mountain Hostel

I had the pleasure of staying here for 10 nights. Yes, it's mainly oriented to the younger generation but Heey, age is only a number. Good facilities and friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff who can advice you on all the possibilities to organize your trips, and tailor it to your wishes (whether or not you want and agency travel, guide, etc). My room was clean & tidy and had it private bath. The breakfast was basic but really tasty (includes the best chocolate crepes), and the kitchen is well-stocked. They also have a terrace where you can to drink a beer enjoying the view over the mountains from. Only a couple of sugestions, adding heating & cooling in the rooms might be helpful. My room, same 6 beds room for my entire stay, was adequate but like I mentioned, would have been perfect if it had A/C. The place was quiet, except for some guest not observing the quiet times, some had no respect for other guests trying to sleep. All in all a pleasant stay... Big Mountain gets an A+ in my books. This hostel is a great stay! Welcoming staff, comfy beds, and hot showers. There is an in house rock wall with a restaurant attached which is usually busy and a fun place to socialize. There is a pool table, ping pong table, fuseball and other table games. The first floor houses a tourism agency to climb any of the beautiful peaks of the Andes or go on day trips to any number of lagunas near huaraz or do the world class reeks of Huayhuash or Santa Cruz. I highly recommend this hostel.

I stayed at Big Mountain for a couple of days in January of 2024. My hostel in Cusco (another great option! Hostel Rivendell!) recommended it to me and I'm sure glad he did! I was really happy with everything at Big Mountain. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, the terrace is relaxing, the kitchen is spacious and clean, and the restaurant was a wonderful surprise. I had never been to a climbing themed restaurant (seriously, there's a real climbing wall in the back!) and this one has some of the best pizza in Peru. Wood-fired pizza is always better! The owner, Artie, made me one of the best pisco sours I've ever had before giving me an impromptu lesson on pisco and its origins. I really can't recommend Big Mountain enough. It's central, the owner and staff are cool, and the hostel itself has everything you could want.

Es algo desorganizada la atención, nos llevaron a una habitación que estaba completa, luego nos pusieron en otra y en el medio de la noche nos despertaron porque supuestamente esas camas ya estaban asignadas. Al momento de hacer el check out también estaban bastante desorganizados, pero se resolvió. Por el precio, está bien. Si estás buscando ahorrar, es una buena opción, tiene las comodidades básicas.

Para empezar el hostel esta muy bien ubicado, el staff realmente se preocupa por ti y te ayuda en todo, sus habitaciones son amplias, cómodas y aunque son compartidas tienen su privacidad, además tiene baño privado y agua caliente, en la terraza hay un bar donde proyectan películas, además de hacer campeonatos de builder o beer pong. El desayuno está incluido y es muy rico. Súper recomendado y volveremos al Big mountain, gracias arti, un abrazo.

Muy buen precio en una linda ubicación. Muy amables para atender y atentos, cómodo, tiene para cocinarse y la cocina muy bien equipada. Un pool, una mesa de ping pong y ajedrez, además en el piso de la cocina tiene una patiesito y su propio bar con juegos 💖💖

Es un hostel muy bueno cuenta con habitaciones amplias tienen buenas camas, tiene agua caliente, sus areas de esparcimiento son buenas cuenta con una mesa de billar, tiene wi fi, tiene una cocina amplia y bien abastecida lo bueno es que te incluye el desayuno, el personal muy amable responde a todas las consultas, tiene una ubicacion buena porque esta cerca a la plaza, y en el ultimo piso tiene una resto bar con una palestra que estan buenazos.

Excelente opción para los que amamos escalar pues tienen una espectacular palestra. Buen ambiente y personal amable; camas con cortinas, cargador y luz de lectura; duchas calientes, amplia cocina común y tiene el desayuno incluido. Definitivamente volvería a quedarme aquí.

Es buen lugar con varias áreas comunes, play station, mesa de billas, palestra, etc. Además cuentan con una agencia de viajes aliada con buenos guías certificados incluso para actividades de aventura. También cuenta con una amplia cocina y comedores para los que quieren almacenar y cocinar sus propios alimentos.
