Houston Hotel

This property doesn't look stunning from outside but its beautiful from inside. Staff was very helpful. Rooms are very good and clean. Breakfast was very good. Kitchen and appliances were in perfect shape and clean. Perfect place to stay if visiting NASA or Galveston beach.

DO NOT RENT 525 BAY AREA BLVD. Magnetic key cards are deactivated every couple of weeks resulting in arbitrary lockouts with no staff serving the "after hours" phone number. $100 to a locksmith was my only remedy to get in my apartment at midnight, due to the fact they deactivate key cards on fully paid tenants.

The hotel was poorly kept and had popcorn Cellings The room stunk and bathroom was a doll house size Never coming back and we only stayed there 12 minutes and check out to stay at a good hotel The lobby was beautiful room was trash

We had an impromptu stop over at this hotel when our Airbnb had cancelled upon arriving in Houston. The positives: free parking, near to some shops (Aldi was a 5 mins drive away, next door to Starbucks), large hotel room complete with a kitchen and lounge area, comfy bed. The areas for improvement: on a busy road so was a tad noisy given our room faced the road, slightly dated inside, no kettle in the room just a coffee machine, breakfast was a non event….. it’s a help yourself buffet which has limited choice and you have to use plastic cutlery and paper plates. Overall the stay ticked a box and wasn’t very far from Kemah and the space centre.

I booked a studio suite on July 27 for 2 nights, July 29 & 30 for my step son and his 2 kids. I booked thru my companies discount website. I received a confirmation receipt/voucher at the time I booked AND paid. My step son and his family show up the afternoon of the 29th and the hotel says they don't have the reservation and that they have no rooms. The lady tells me that we booked thru a 3rd party and that they can't/won't do anything to help us. When I called and told the lady at the hotel who I was and why I was calling she said yes I know please hold. Approximately 20 minutes later she picks up and sounded surprised that I was still holding, I guess she thought I would hang up and just let it go, HELL NO I'M NOT. Bottom line is that they refused to help or show any concern for a family with a 5 and 7 year old and simply told them to go find someplace else, at 6 pm on a Friday night. Luckily the 3rd party that my company uses found them a comparable hotel at what appears to be a higher quality hotel at the same price. Will never use or recommend SONESTA HOTELS ever.
