In the winter, the area offers snowmobiling with direct access to trails, snowshoeing, skiing, and ice fishing on the pond. Fish include rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, perch, bluegill, and others. Lake Umbagog is a huge lake with tons of views and wildlife. Easily accessible and about 15 minutes from the house.Androscoggin River. I love fishing this river. Tons of moose and wildlife can be seen right off the road some days. Kayak, tube, fish, swim. Milan state park is great for hiking, fishing, picnicking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and has a wonderful view of mountain ranges in VT, ME, and NH from the fire tower. LL Cotes is a great place to go shopping for almost anything you need, gas, groceries, outdoor clothing, fishing equipment, guns, kayaks, snowmobiling gear and local souvenirs. Colebrook NH has your nearest grocery store and a few destinations. Bring a cooler to keep your stuff cold. To get there you pass Dixville Notch state park.
