The Pickled Pheasant

Had an overnight stay at Pickled Pheasant this week. Where do I start? Looks lovely and welcoming from outside even on a wet grey day! Lovely welcome on arrival from staff and taken to our room. We stayed in Quail room. Beautifully decorated… cosy and comfortable. Gorgeous bedding, spacious bathroom and great facilities! A great night sleep was followed by a delicious breakfast… recommend the pancakes!! Again staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. Would highly recommend this lovely place! Thanks for having us…. I hope we will back soon!!

We visited for food only. We can’t comment about the rooms. The venue was attractive, bright and cheerful. Food took a good while to arrive. Place not massively busy. Service wasn’t attentive. Apart from the young man who was working there. A dessert / ice cream sale for our party was missed as my partner was left standing whilst 3 staff were chatting behind the bar. She rightly got fed up of waiting and we left. Food 4/5 Service 2/5

A wonderfully welcoming team that couldn't do more to make their guests feel at home. I would recommend The Pickled Pheasant to anyone visiting the area, well kept ales, a great selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and great food.

Beautiful room with amazing attention to detail. The bed looked great and was very comfortable. The shower room was Immaculate. Lovely selection of teas and coffees with proper sized mugs! Breakfast choices were extensive and delicious and it was very relaxed.

We had been recommended the Pickle by some friends, I must say what a lovely afternoon, really nice atmosphere , the service was great , very friendly and the food was amazing and there was a great choice. We will certainly be back to sample more of the menu.

The hotel is situated is a beautiful location. We stayed in the pheasant room which was gorgeous. Everything was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. The church bells opposite do ring every 15 minutes which some people may not like but it didn’t bother us. We had our evening meal in the pub which was excellent. The breakfast menu had a good choice and was also excellent. The staff were all very friendly. Overall, a great stay and we would recommend to others.

Beautiful room, tastefully decorated. Fantastic bedding and comfortable bed. Food in restaurant was good. Breakfast was really good quality, plentiful and well cooked. However, few things to improve at this price bracket compared to other similar establishments. Room refreshments not replenished by housekeeping despite being asked about this and ‘home made’ biscuits not good, although nicely packaged. Cooked breakfast was good, but at this price point you would expect some fruit/ yoghurt/ pastries/ cereal/ muesli etc to begin breakfast/ as part of breakfast offer and for this reason we would not recommend to our friends who visit similar places. Friendly enough welcome and in a nice quiet spot.

Just had my sixth stay at The Pickled Pheasant and it was as wonderful as always. Nick as usual made us feel so welcome and at home and all the staff are so polite and attentive. The room (Peacock Suite) was as beautiful and homely as ever,the sofa bed has the comfiest mattress that I have slept on, the mattress in the main bedroom is fabulous as well. The breakfast and evening meals were also of the same high standard, delicious as ever. Looking forward to our next stay soon.

Only here one night for bed and breakfast, but everything excellent. Room and bathroom gorgeous, with plenty of teas and coffees and good selection of toiletries. Bed very comfortable. Tasty breakfast cooked to order. Friendly staff. Beautiful location too.
