I loved every single minute of my stay at Safari Moon Luxury Bush Lodge. From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to the beauty of the South African bush. We stayed in the Leopard Suite, which was absolutely stunning — super spacious with panoramic views stretching right out into the reserve. I especially loved the quiet afternoons spent on the balcony with a cup of coffee, just soaking in the peace and watching the wildlife wander past. Breakfasts were a dream — delicious, fresh, and served with the most beautiful morning views. And the three-course dinners each night were incredible. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with real care. One evening, we even had a magical campfire dinner under the stars — something I’ll never forget. The activities arranged through the lodge were all amazing. We went on a thrilling quad ride, an insightful bush walk with Saskia, explored the Blyde River Canyon by boat, and visited the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre — every experience was perfectly curated and unforgettable. A huge part of what made this trip so special was our guide, Saskia. Her local knowledge, passion for the area, and thoughtful personal touches brought everything to life. She showed us hidden gems we’d never have found on our own and added so much depth to the whole stay. If you’re looking for a luxury experience in nature, with incredible service and meaningful moments, Moon Safari is the place. I’m already dreaming of coming back!

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Safari Moon and would recommend this property to anyone wanting a mix of Kruger and a quiet relaxing time.

We had always wanted to do the safari experience and knew we were probably only going to do it once: therefore it was important that it ticked as many boxes as possible. We sought: style, a sense of opulence, intimacy and space; a desire to be IN the bush itself. We wanted that nostalgic feeling: one where we would be discreetly spoilt, where staff would do the thinking for us and of course, you take a risk with the latter as it's something you can't see in the photographs. If the above is important to you, along with of course the expected fabulous game drives, the after-drive drinks in the bush as the sun sets, the ability to walk safely down the track-roads yourselves then you are booking the right place. Furthermore, the food is SUPERB- the chefs begin prepping the evening dinner early in the morning and baskets of fresh herbs and spices arrive along with game and local fish. All food is cooked on the station at the rear of the lodge and you can witness this spectacle and chat to the chefs themselves who are humble considering the standard of the food they present. Breakfasts are amazing and can be a leisurely affair if you wish with many choices, changing daily-all dietary preferences are catered for. The staff here are discreet, caring and full of initiative: all are interesting to converse with. Huge thanks to Melissa who discreetly provided us with a 5* service at every turn- how she manages to do this seemingly 24/7 AND voluntarily teach and look after the local villagers in her 'spare' time is a miracle. And Rowan, the courteous and gentle Barman who also assists in a host of other areas as required with the same infectious smile. The suites and lodges themselves are beautifully decorated- patterns and colours leap out with African flare- all down to the charismatic and talented owners: the Leitch family. Oh and by the way, the beds are simply the biggest and most comfortable we have ever slept in. Don't hesitate. Just GO! PS- If you can tear yourself away, just a short drive away down the road is Hoedspruit, a colourful town where there is an abundance of coffee shops and a wonderful collection of independent shops.

Just had an amazing stay at Safari Moon Luxury Bush Lodge in Hoedspruit! The moment I walked in, I knew we'd made the right call. The staff's warm welcome and the inviting atmosphere instantly made me feel at home. I got to experience two different rooms during my stay - the Leopard Room and then the Full Moon Suite (their presidential suite). Both were gorgeous! The Full Moon Suite was absolutely stunning and really showed what luxury bush living can be. The food was a highlight for sure. Chef Control and Chef Sizwe are doing something special in that kitchen. That gourmet burger Chef Sizwe made when I first arrived? It set the tone for all the delicious meals that followed. Got to give a special shoutout to our waiter Rowan, who was basically the master of everything - always there when we needed something and just made everything run smoothly. Melinda, the front of house manager, was fantastic too. She gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to check out in the area. The lodge itself is beautiful and really well-kept. Everything just feels right - it's luxurious but still has that authentic bush feel. You can tell they put thought into making sure guests are comfortable while keeping the natural surroundings in mind. If you're heading to Hoedspruit and want a memorable bush experience, this place is worth checking out. The staff, the food, the rooms - everything just came together to make our stay special. Quick tips: - Make sure to try both Chef Control and Chef Sizwe's cooking - The Full Moon Suite is worth the splurge if you want something extra special - Ask Melinda for recommendations - she knows her stuff - Take some time to just chill and enjoy the lodge itself Really had a great time here - definitely exceeded what I was expecting! Fantastic small luxury hotel with very friendly staff and personal service. Fantastic food. Great location for visiting the attractions of the Hoedspruit area, especially if you have a car. Self-drive safaris around the wildlife estate are highly reccomended - start and stop whenever you please; see giraffe, impala and other antelopes, baboons, zebra and a variety of birds around the pools.

Wow! Staying at the Safari Moon was an amazing experience! It is like staying as an honored guest at a luxurious private home. There are only 7-8 beautiful and large en suite rooms (if that) and we were the only ones during our off-season stay. The staff is exceptional - so polite, so accommodating, so eager-to-please. Our meals were delicious and beautiful, served in a delightful open-air dining room and/or packed to eat on safari. Staff always checked with our 7-year-old before dinner to be sure she had something she wanted to eat. Outstanding bar. We saw Kudu and Warthogs roaming just outside the premises. This is NOT the Four Seasons, so don't expect that, but it is a totally 5-star luxury experience.
