The Duke Hotel

We had a one night stay in July 25 the hotel was a Perfect location and easy to find also good amount of parking The Amazing staff couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel very welcome We booked a table for an evening meal and the food was beautiful Room was nice and clean and had Fast WiFi Highly recommend staying here

Stayed in the blue room with the pelican picture. Very well decorated. Loads of small details, even small jars of honey. Had dinner on the evening (wow, nothing to complain about at all). The day after, I had breakfast at the cafe next door, what a lovely spot.

Desite being a beautiful pub and the food being ok. this place is terrible. The management could not manage this pub to save their life and rely on teenagers to run it for them. The head chef coughs all over the food and the staff cant even get a simple order correct and charge you for drinks that you never had. And to make matters worse they have staff leaving reviews and when they get a negative one they delete them as is shown by my last review which has mysteriously vanished!! Will not go here ever again.

Went with my partner and stayed at the hotel. Lovely food, people, staff and our room was outstanding. My wife enjoyed the passion fruit martini at the bar, good lager sessions on taps.

We have just stayed at The Duke hotel for three days over the period they hosted our daughter's wedding celebrations. The hotel is an absolutely lovely place, the staff wonderful and the hosts Brandon and Matteo a shining example of their profession. The Duke was the first venue on our daughter and son-in-laws wish list when we came viewing over a year ago and their choice was so exactly right that there was never really any other venue in the running. This was partly down of the beautiful building and wonderful food but mostly due to the personalities of Brandon and Matteo who we just knew would always be the perfect hosts. Due to all the care and hard work by Brandon, Matteo and the team, our stay was one of the peaks of our adults lives, and the happy couple's special day was exactly what they wanted (and more!). We arrived on the Wednesday to find the organisation all in hand so we joined the locals' quiz night being held that evening instead. We met some great people, were made to feel extremely welcome and had great fun accompanied by delicious food. On the Thursday we had a big family meal and despite there being another large celebration booking in at the same time, there was absolutely no impact on the service or quality of this 5* food. On the wedding morning (Friday) there was nothing more we or the bride could have wanted - the attention to detail was fantastic and the willingness to accommodate every inconvenience unsurpassed. We all returned from the registry office to find all the guests waiting happily, having been very well attended to by staff. Here I want to give a particular thanks to Laine who worked tirelessly all day, in the heat, pandering to and catering for high-spirited guests with a big smile on her face and such enjoyment of her role. This girl is an absolute star! We are also aware of how tirelessly and enthusiastically all the staff worked on until long after we had gone to bed because the next morning everything was organised and tidy again! We all had the best day ever and undoubtedly The Duke has a great future hosting large celebration events! We look forward to coming back as guests and seeing more of what both The Duke and the area has to offer (oh, and also to visit our daughter and son-in-law!)

Awful experience. Will never return. While the food wasnt bad, the waitress serving us was useless. She got her order wrong and then tried to bill us for a drink that we hadnt ordered. Then to top it off i heard the staff disucssing how the cook was coughing into the food while preparing. How this shambles of a pub got 5 stars i do not know. They treat the staff so poorly aswell. I get the feeling from hearing the management that they are more concerned where their next holiday is coming from rather than how to manage the pub!!
