Handywater Cottages

We booked a two night stay at Handywater Cottages in order to attend the Traditional Boat Festival in Henley this weekend, what an excellent choice that turned out to be. The hosts Natalie and Ray go out of their way to ensure every little detail is thought about. They have invested in high quality accommodation with four self contained units in the grounds of their beautiful period home, we stayed in Magnolia which benefits from a patio area (complete with outside seating area and huge garden umbrella). There is a shared utility/kitchen area with access to a washing machine, dryer, microwave and fridge freezer which would be useful for longer stays and in addition to our private patio there are seating areas around the well kept garden. Parking is very secure with gated access. Our room was immaculately clean and very well maintained with a high quality comfortable mattress (rare in B&Bs). Natalie is an incredibly organised person and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and makes the most wonderful breakfast which you order the day before and enjoy in a characterful dining room. We feel fortunate to have found such a wonderful base in Henley and will definitely return. Highly recommended

Handywater Cottages was an excellent place to stay for a few days. The hosts, Natalie and Ray, are an experienced couple and know how to give their guests as much or as little attention that they need so that being there is like home from home. They go the extra yard to make sure that your stay is as comfortable and easy as possible. The main house is over 500 years old and the hosts are rightly proud of the hard work and effort they have put in to turn this and the additional buildings into a high end, award winning B&B offering located a couple of miles from Henley on Thames. The breakfast is A La Carte with plenty of choice and range. It is beautifully cooked, delicious and plentiful and served in the main house. You get your own, dedicated chef and waitress – Natalie! The accommodation is spotlessly clean throughout. Space in the bedroom is at a premium but ours was well appointed and provided with high end fixtures and fittings. It was warm and comfortable with seating outside on a patio, where it was great to sit and read in the setting sun, overlooking the paddock, to which guests have access and fields & hills beyond There is secure parking available behind locked gates, a paddock, fish ponds and interesting borders and plants all maintained to a high level In terms of location there is plenty of choice in Henley for food and drink. The Hosts are happy to help you chose where to go and for what. Our stay at Handywater Cottages was absolutely great and I would highly recommend it.

What a great find! Situated in a valley just outside Henley, next to a great pub is this wonderful B&B. All communication withNathalie the owner before arrival was always responded to immediately. The car park is entirely secure and our room Sunflowers was spotlessly clean and super cosy and warm. Our bed was so comfortable along with the eider pillows. Breakfast consisted of an extensive choice and was beautifully cooked and served in the small dining room. The choice was unbelievable. I can fully understand how you have won awards for your accommodation and please continue as we will be back.

We would like to thank Natalie and Ray for creating a very pleasant, peaceful, and well appointed set of cottages. The main 1600s barn that you have turned into a delightful home for yourselves and the breakfast room is certainly amazingly to see, especially after having to lower the floors so people could stand up inside. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay, found the garden beautiful to walk in, and enjoyed our conversations with you Natalie and the other guests. The cottages are very close to Henley and to Hambleden, both of which we were able to visit.

A superb stay in lovely surroundings. Immaculate and comfortable accommodation in a spacious room. The breakfast was delicious and generous and the lovely host could not have been more helpful. All in all we could not have asked for more. Thank you
